Compensation: Pay is determined by various factors, including but not limited to job-specific requirements, individual experience, internal pay equity, and organizational needs/budget considerations, all in alignment with our RML's compensation philosophy. Ensures the quality and aesthetic look of the facility by performing decorating and painting services throughout the main hospital complex. Performs special and routine painting and decorating functions, including repairing cracks and holes; mixing and applying various types of paint, stains and varnishes; and hanging wall coverings and any other related materials. Also prepares areas for painting and/or related tasks by moving furniture, removing drapery or other window treatments, masking with tape, applying drop cloths or other coverings to protect surfaces, flooring, and furniture. Cleans up after completing project and returns area to previous appearance.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Supports the Mission and Vision of RML Specialty Hospital by demonstrating RML's Core Values of Service, Teamwork, Accountability, Integrity, Respect and Stewardship (STAIRS) in all actions. Promotes a positive patient/customer experience by exemplifying the principles of the Language of Caring in all interactions with patients, families and co-workers.
- Prepares all types of paint grades, stains, and finishes. Applies appropriate paints, stains, and finishes to all types of wood surfaces as well as other surfaces (e.g., metal, concrete).
- Removes old wall coverings and prepares the surface for new wall coverings.
- Applies wall coverings, both standard roll size 54” commercial grade vinyl and cloth types.
- Performs necessary paint touch-ups, minor plastering tasks, wall covering repairs, and drywall taping.
- Installs cove base, chair rails, hand rails, PPE holders, chart holders, paintings, and other small to moderate sized fixtures on the walls.
- Keeps supervisors informed of on-the-job status, and any situations that occur while completing tasks. Alerts supervisors of corrective maintenance issues that need to be addressed by other Plant Operations staff.
- Works alternate shifts to accommodate assignments and complete the job in a professional manner.
- Maintains clean conditions in assigned locations for equipment and material used.
- Maintains adequate inventory levels of stock paint and wall covering.
- Ensures and takes steps to implement infection control measures while working in the patient care areas. Obtains permit from infection control manager or coordinator before starting any renovation projects. Cleans up the areas as needed during the project to control dust and maintain adequate infection control.
- Works with EVS and Plant Operations personnel in coordinating the tasks needed to isolate the area that needs to be redecorated.
- Performs all housekeeping duties as well as Environmental service tech’s duties when necessary.
- Takes special precautions when painting clinical/patient care areas to ensure safe use of paint, control of odor, proper placement of required warning signs (e.g., on wet surfaces), and patient privacy.
- Participation in self development by attending mandatory in-services and education programs appropriate to the goals and needs of the department.

- Follows all hospital policies and procedures.
- Attends internal meetings and in-services and participates in mandatory reviews of policies and procedures.
- Performs other duties as assigned, and as properly trained.
JOB REQUIREMENTS & CHARACTERISTICS
Ability to lift and carry moderate to heavy loads( up to 50 lbs)
Ability to walk and stand for long periods of time.
Ability to safely climb ladders and work on ladders.
Excellent communication skills.
Ability to make prompt and effective decisions.
Ability to assess amount of material needed to complete given project and/or assess time-frame comparisons to produce reasonable estimates for job completion.
Knowledge of the mechanics and finesse involved in plaster work, painting, and wall covering installation.
Education & Experience
High school diploma or equivalent.
Three years prior industrial/commercial painting experience
Five years prior industrial/commercial painting experience
License/Certification
None
None
Regular exposure to dust, dirt, unpleasant odors, etc.
Regular handling of ladders, heavy lifting, toxic materials.
Regular contact with odor and smell of paint, glue etc.
Prolonged standing and use of shoulders continuously for painting and patching activities.
