WHO YOU ARE You are a dynamic and results- driven Development Director well versed in leading fundraising initiatives for similar sized nonprofit organizations. You are skilled at building and executing comprehensive development strategies and serving as an ambassador for influential organizations. You have a proven success record working with both authority and influence to manage and steward a portfolio of corporate and individual relationships to drive growth and achieve defined revenue goals.WHAT YOU’LL DOCome join us as a Development Director with responsibility for the Colorado and New Mexico area with specific focus on event fundraising (Kidney Walk and Distinguished Events). This position is a front-line fundraiser and ambassador for the National Kidney Foundation and will speak knowledgeably and persuasively about the mission of the organization and the variety of ways to engage.The Development Director will raise annual funds by recruiting and managing executive leadership volunteers and committees, raising awareness, establishing and securing corporate partnerships and implementing fundraising and mission-related events to achieve revenue goals. A successful candidate will manage and steward a diverse portfolio of corporate, and individual, and foundation relationships and drive significant revenue growth to achieve our mission objectives.The ideal candidate must have proven success in front-line fundraising, event planning and management, and relationship management. Exceptional organizational, written, and verbal communication skills are necessary for this position. Must have ability to multitask, meet deadlines, and achieve results in a collaborative team environment.Supervise planning, execution, budgeting, and evaluation of assigned eventsManages Development Manger for NKF serving Colorado and New MexicoEvent Management and corporate and donor management of a large fundraising portfolio for (local) Kidney Walks, Distinguished Social/Special Events, including the Colorado Golf Classic and Great Chefs of the WestCreating and executing fundraising strategies, work to grow additional revenue for the NKFServe as a member of the development team influencing and driving relationships and best practices to accomplish market and region financial goalsAccountable to develop and steward a portfolio of relationships to provide funding for our mission (sponsorship, campaigns, event teams, grants, donations, and other partnerships)Ensure accurate revenue projections and provide financial analysisOversee stewardship activities; ensure a high-touch response to partners and donorsWork with high level volunteers to provide local leadership, resources, and partnershipsDrive donor centric corporate, individual and foundation partnerships to support financial goals of market events, programs and prioritized initiativesMake presentations to businesses, organizations and community groups to secure sponsorship, recruit teams and committee volunteers and manage accounts on a year-round basisDeliver high customer service to all constituentsEnsure compliance with NKF policies, including employment, risk management, event and cash handling, and financial controlsDemonstrate integrity, collaboration and stewardshipEngages, recruits, trains, recognizes, and manages staff and volunteers as applicableProficiency with Salesforce or equivalent customer database software (e.g., data input, record updating, gift processing, report production). Auction platforms, website managementOther duties as assigned
WHAT YOU’LL POSSESSBachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university7+ years demonstrated leadership with focus on peer-to-peer fundraising, recruitment and management of volunteers and committees, relationship-building networking, budget management, and volunteer mobilizationProven track record of multi-functional fundraising and event management experience: special events, multiple walk events, corporate engagement and campaignsExperience supervising employees, volunteers and committeesOutcome driven with ability to respond to changing circumstances and prioritiesWORKING CONDITIONS, EQUIPMENT USED AND SPECIAL INFORMATIONMust have unimpeachable integrity and trustworthiness while possessing a high degree of tact, discretion, and professionalism. Maintains effectiveness under pressure. Verbal and written communication skills will be used on a daily basis. Flexible to work evenings/weekends as needed, pending preapproval. Travel including overnight travel as needed.
