Job Description
Children’s Diabetes Foundation is looking for a Major Gifts Officer to be a key member of the Development Team. The Major Gifts Officer will be responsible for identifying, soliciting, and cultivating major donors throughout Colorado and beyond. They will be responsible for growing the organization’s major donor base with a goal of raising $1 million per year with a portfolio of up to 125 donor relationships.
This is an in-person, full-time position based out of Aurora, CO.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage a portfolio of approximately 100–125 major donor prospects
- Develop and execute strategies to engage, cultivate, solicit, retain, and re-engage lapsed donors
- Design and implement a comprehensive major gifts program.
- Generate gift strategies and proposals aligned with top fundraising priorities and strategic initiatives.
- Lead multimillion-dollar campaigns through campaign development and execution
- Travel for face-to-face cultivation and solicitation meetings with existing and prospective donors
- Research, identify, and solicit new donor prospects to expand donor pool across the nation
- Maintain accurate and thorough records in CRM and oversee moves management tools
- Work collaboratively and provide regular updates to the development team
- Support the Executive Director in major donor meetings by providing customized giving opportunities to each donor
KEY PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS
- Meet quarterly outreach activity goals and grow yearly fundraising goal to $1 million+
- Raise significant institutional support for the network to sustain and grow, especially in new regions
- Execute private donor events successfully by meeting established fundraising and event goals
KEY QUALIFICATIONS
- Required minimum of 5+ years of major gifts fundraising experience with demonstrated growth in yearly fundraising dollars received
- Proven ability to communicate value and close donor gifts over 6-digits
- Demonstrated experience leading multimillion dollar campaigns
- Well versed in alternative donation methods (such as appreciated assets/securities, personal property, real estate, DAFs, etc.) and fluent in explaining options to donors
- Total personal alignment with our mission and vision and commitment to our core values
- Outgoing and relational; strong emotional intelligence and interpersonal skills
- Ability to establish strong working relationships with colleagues, partners, and donors
- Excellent written and oral communication and presentation abilities
- Adept in managing multiple projects and competing priorities
- High degree of organization and excellent use of systems
- Experience with donor CRM, preferably Raiser’s Edge
- Achievement-oriented, have a great deal of stamina to work hard, and take satisfaction from being productive.
- Ability to travel 50-75% of the time (including locally)
The Children’s Diabetes Foundation was established by Barbara and Marvin Davis in 1977 in Denver as a non-profit organization dedicated solely to the support of research in diabetes and to provide the best possible clinical and educational programs for people with the disease. The Foundation’s mission is to raise funds to support the Barbara Davis Center for Diabetes, where thousands of patients of all ages from all over the world receive the finest diabetes care available.
