Job Description

Under the direction of the Director of Development, the Institutional Giving Manager leads all foundation, corporate foundation, and government grant activity at Urban Peak. This role manages the full lifecycle of institutional funding, including prospect research, proposal development, submission, reporting, and stewardship. This position serves as the central project manager for institutional revenue, with a strong emphasis on managing complex government funding and restricted foundation grants. The Institutional Giving Manager coordinates cross-functional teams to ensure proposals, reporting, compliance, and financial tracking are executed accurately and on time.

Urban Peak manages a significant portfolio of government funding, requiring rigorous coordination across program, finance, compliance, and external partners. This role is responsible for maintaining systems and processes that ensure deadlines are met, funds are properly tracked, and deliverables do not fall through the cracks. This role requires both strong writing skills and advanced project management capabilities. The Institutional Giving Manager will also manage external grant consultants and ensure alignment across all contributors.

The Institutional Giving Manager works collaboratively with the Director of Advancement, Finance team, Compliance Manager, program staff, and external grant consultants to support sustainable revenue growth.

Who You Are:

Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of three (3+) years of experience in nonprofit development, grant writing, or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experienceDemonstrated success writing and managing foundation and/or government grantsStrong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines, stakeholders, and competing prioritiesExcellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate programmatic content into compelling proposalsHighly organized, detail-oriented, and system-orientedAbility to work collaboratively across departments and hold stakeholders accountable to deadlinesExperience with CRM systems and grant tracking tools preferredExperience working with government grants and/or contracts strongly preferredUnderstanding of trauma-informed care and commitment to Urban Peak’s missionAbility to use second language in written and verbal communication desired (Spanish, Vietnamese, ASL) preferred but not required.Lived experience reflective of the youth we serve is encouraged but not required.Team-oriented and able to coordinate with various departments and staff. Computer proficient and possess experience of Microsoft Office Suite (e.g. Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel). Must be insurable as a driver on Urban Peak’s auto liability policy to conduct business on behalf of the agency or transport youth using an Urban Peak vehicle and an approved personal vehicle. Ability to pass both federal and state background checks. Ability to pass pre-employment TB Screening and a pre-employment physical examination. Provide proof of education (HS Diploma OR Official Transcripts)


What You Will Do:

Government Grant Management

    Serve as the internal project manager for all government grants and contracts, ensuring coordination across programs, finance, compliance, and leadership Manage the full lifecycle of government funding, including opportunity tracking, proposal development, award setup, implementation tracking, and reporting in collaboration with the Compliance ManagerLead internal planning and kickoff processes to align stakeholders on scope, timelines, deliverables, and responsibilities Develop and maintain detailed workplans and timelines for each grant or contract Track progress against deliverables/outcomes and proactively identify and resolve risks or delays Partner with Finance to monitor grant budgets and spending to ensure alignment with contract requirements Ensure timely and accurate completion of all required reports, including quarterly and annual submissions Manage and oversee external grant consultants, ensuring quality of work, adherence to timelines, and alignment with Urban Peak priorities

Institutional Fundraising & Writing

    Partner with the Director of Advancement to align institutional funding with overall development strategy Write, edit, and submit grant proposals, letters of inquiry, and reports for foundation, corporate foundation, and select government opportunities Manage a portfolio of foundation funders, including communications, stewardship, and renewals Partner with the Director of Advancement and CEO to support cultivation and stewardship of institutional funders Translate programmatic information into clear, compelling narratives tailored to funder priorities Maintain and refine proposal templates, boilerplate language, and supporting materials


Project Management & Systems

    Build and maintain a comprehensive system to track all institutional funding activities, deadlines, and deliverables utilizing Raisers Edge and additional project management toolsPrioritize funding opportunities based on organizational capacity and strategic alignmentMonitor and forecast institutional revenue, including awarded, pending, and pipeline funding Research and identify new institutional funding prospects aligned with Urban Peak’s programs and priorities Serve as the central point of coordination to ensure contributors meet deadlines and requirements Establish and reinforce clear workflows and accountability across teams and ensure no deadlines, reporting requirements, or compliance elements fall through the cracks

Who We Are:

Founded in 1988, Urban Peak is the only non-profit organization in Denver that provides a full convergence of services for youth ages 12 through 24 experiencing homelessness or at imminent risk of becoming homeless. Our goal is to meet youth where they are and to provide them with the assistance and support, they need to become self-sufficient or obtain the necessary services they need to exit a life on the streets.

Urban Peak provides numerous programs and services that are founded on the principles of trauma-informed care and Positive Youth Development to assist youth in reaching their potential and living a successful life off the streets. Services include street outreach, a 136-bed shelter for youth ages 12 through 24, daytime drop-in services, supportive housing, education and employment services, case management, life skills courses, behavioral health evaluations, meals and more.
