Shift Work Required: YesDuties and Responsibilities: Reporting to the Fleet Technology and Training Administrator, this position will be responsible for:
  • Carrying out and controlling all operations and functions related to the Stockroom.
  • Maintains control and repair of specialized tools, maintains stock and stock levels, orders, receives and issues stock, places and removes stock from storage areas, follows up on parts delivery, expedites parts deliveries to ensure minimum equipment downtime.
  • Keeps the Fleet Supervisors informed of parts delivery delays.
  • Coordinates with Purchasing Department delivery of contract materials as required.
  • Utilizes computer systems to ensure accountability of all parts and materials issued and warehoused.
  • Maintains records necessary to cross reference interchangeability of parts.
  • Maintain cleanliness, organization and security of the stockroom.
  • Determines fast and slow moving items to establish stock levels, performs physical inventory and spot check counts.
  • Maintains good working relations with customers, outside vendors, and fellow staff.
  • Provide good telephone etiquette and multi-task.
  • Will perform Occupational Health & Safety duties as outlined in the Corporation’s Health and Safety Program.
  • Will perform other related duties as required.
Qualifications:
  • Must have an Ontario Secondary School Graduation Diploma plus up to one (1) year of additional work related courses or Ontario Ministry of Education equivalencies;
  • Must have over three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in automotive and heavy equipment stock functions, or in a related automotive field;
  • Must hold and maintain a current valid and lawful Class ‘G’ Driver's Licence in accordance with the Highway Traffic Act, for the purposes of operating a City of Windsor vehicle and provide a driver’s abstract as a condition of employment;
  • Must possess a thorough knowledge of all tools and equipment used in the automotive trade;
  • Must have thorough knowledge of parts accessories and related materials needed to operate a large automotive and specialized equipment repair shop;
  • Must be able to maintain records necessary to cross reference interchangeability of parts;
  • Must be able to read and interpret manufacturer parts catalogues;
  • Must be able to determine correctness of parts deliveries;
  • Must have knowledge of the changing automotive field and of recommending parts to be stocked;
  • Must be able to demonstrate through either a written or practical test the ability to expedite and control a complete parts inventory;
  • Must have clear and neat handwriting;
  • Must be a self-starter and be capable of working with minimum supervision;
  • Must have communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Must have computer skills.
  • Must complete a post-offer agility test in an effort to assist the successful candidate in completing the position tasks safely and to aid in minimizing injuries on the job.
