Job Description

The Fitness Center Floor Staff is responsible for keeping the Mordoh Fitness Center clean. In addition to daily cleaning tasks, this position greets and assists members and guests, assists with equipment, and maintains a clean and safe place for members and guests to exercise. This position will primarily work weekday mornings (5:45 am to 1 pm) and candidates should have general weekend operating hours availability.

A primary responsibility of this and all other jobs at the JCC is to ensure by whatever rational and reasonable means necessary that each and every member, guest andvisitor leaves the JCC feeling just a little better than when they arrived.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintains cleanliness of fitness center (vacuuming/mopping floors and areas around equipment, keeping the fitness desk clear and free of clutter, following daily equipment cleaning schedule, restocking inventories and cleaning supplies, laundering & folding hand towels)
  • Provides and maintains excellent customer service, including assisting all members in a safe and helpful manner on basic use of equipment and interpretation of Fitness Center policies
  • Enforces all Fitness Center policies and procedures in a consistent manner
  • Monitors all activities within the Fitness Center, providing assistance to members proactively
  • Acts as first responder to accidents in the fitness center
  • Completes accident and incident reports as needed
  • Answers telephone, routes and directs calls as appropriate
  • Provides Fitness Center orientations for members
  • Attends all required staff meetings
  • Remains knowledgeable about all fitness center programs & services offered

Other Duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Experience

  • High school diploma preferred
  • Certified in CPR, AED and first aid within 3 months of employment

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Familiar with emergency procedures, capable of performing Emergency Action Plan
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a commitment to provide excellent customer service to all members, guests, visitors and co-workers
  • Good time management skills with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong knowledge of strength training and cardio equipment

Interpersonal, Customer Service & Communication Skills

  • Requires ability to effectively communicate JCC mission to staff, members. vendors and volunteers
  • Requires high-level skills in customer service/member care
  • Embrace and model the JCC Internal Service Standards of Respect, Gratitude, Communication, The Golden Rule, and Ownership/Accountability
  • Exemplifies personal qualities of integrity, credibility and unwavering commitment to the JCC’s mission

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This position requires the individual to be able to perform well in a fast-paced environment. It requires high mobility, standing, walking, bending and lifting. Must be able to lift and carry at least 45 pounds.
