Data Governance Sr. Professional

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Data Governance Sr. Professional based in United States.

This role provides the opportunity to contribute to enterprise-wide data governance initiatives that improve data quality, transparency, and decision-making.
You will help design and implement practical governance frameworks that enable teams to manage data effectively throughout its lifecycle.
Working with business and technology stakeholders, you will support the development of standards, processes, and tools that strengthen data reliability and accountability.
The position combines data management expertise, process improvement, and collaboration across a complex healthcare environment.
You will play an important role in helping organizations build trusted data practices that support analytics, compliance, operational performance, and innovation.

Accountabilities:

The Data Governance Senior Professional will support the development and adoption of enterprise data governance practices by creating frameworks, documentation, and processes that improve data quality and operational consistency. The role requires strong analytical thinking, stakeholder collaboration, and the ability to translate governance concepts into practical business solutions.

  • Research data governance frameworks, standards, policies, and industry best practices to support the creation of a foundational Data Governance Implementation Guide.
  • Develop and document practical approaches that help business teams apply governance requirements to new initiatives.
  • Define processes for identifying, classifying, documenting, managing, and governing data throughout business and technology lifecycles.
  • Collaborate with enterprise data governance leaders to translate requirements into clear guidance, templates, checklists, and adoption materials.
  • Partner with business and technology stakeholders to understand current practices, operational needs, and opportunities for stronger governance.
  • Support alignment across enterprise architecture, data management, data quality, metadata, data lineage, data dictionaries, and data sensitivity practices.
  • Document roles and responsibilities for data owners, data stewards, technology teams, and governance stakeholders.
  • Help establish repeatable governance processes including intake, assessment, approvals, issue management, escalation, and ongoing monitoring.
  • Support communication, training, and rollout activities to increase adoption of governance practices.
  • Participate in stakeholder reviews, collect feedback, document decisions, and improve governance documentation.
  • Identify opportunities to improve data consistency, accountability, transparency, and risk management across business operations.
  • Support the development of adoption metrics, reporting mechanisms, and progress tracking for governance initiatives.
  • Contribute to initiatives that improve trusted data availability for analytics, reporting, compliance, operational excellence, and AI readiness.
Requirements:

The ideal candidate is an experienced data governance professional with expertise in data quality, data management, and enterprise data practices. They should have strong analytical capabilities, knowledge of governance frameworks, and the ability to collaborate with both technical and business teams.

  • Must be a transitioning service member eligible for the DoW SkillBridge program or a military spouse eligible for the Military Spouse Career Accelerator Fellowship Program.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen due to government contract requirements.
  • Ability to successfully receive interim approval for required government security clearance.
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • 7+ years of experience in data governance, data quality, or data management roles.
  • Strong understanding of data governance frameworks, metadata management, data lineage, business glossaries, and data catalog concepts.
  • Experience profiling and analyzing data to identify trends, anomalies, risks, gaps, and improvement opportunities.
  • Experience supporting enterprise analytics, reporting, regulatory, operational, cloud modernization, or AI readiness initiatives through governed data practices.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work across business and technology teams.
  • Ability to organize complex information and create clear documentation, processes, and guidance.

Preferred qualifications include:

  • 10+ years of experience in healthcare, business, or financial services environments.
  • Experience working with healthcare data, including claims, clinical, or service operations data.
  • Technical experience with SQL, data profiling techniques, data mapping, and data lineage interpretation.
  • Experience developing data quality scorecards, metrics, dashboards, or reporting frameworks.
  • Familiarity with data quality and governance platforms such as Ataccama, Collibra, BigEye, Alation, Informatica, or Microsoft Purview.
  • Experience with data visualization tools and techniques.
