Power Systems Engineer

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Power Systems Engineer based in United States .

As a Power Systems Engineer, you will contribute to the development of a more reliable, resilient, and sustainable energy infrastructure by supporting advanced grid studies and compliance initiatives. You will perform detailed power system analyses, develop and validate engineering models, and help ensure energy systems meet evolving reliability standards. This role offers the opportunity to work on complex projects involving renewable energy integration, grid modernization, and advanced power system technologies. You will collaborate with experienced industry professionals while applying technical expertise in modeling, simulation, and automation. The position is ideal for an engineer passionate about shaping the future of energy through innovative solutions and impactful engineering work.

Accountabilities:
  • Perform detailed bulk power system studies using industry-standard software tools such as PSS/E, PSLF, TSAT, ETAP, and other power system analysis platforms.
  • Conduct inverter-based resource (IBR) modeling, including steady-state, short-circuit, and dynamic simulations.
  • Execute technical assessments related to facility ratings, protection coordination, and voltage/frequency ride-through requirements.
  • Analyze power system performance to support compliance with applicable reliability standards and technical requirements.
  • Process, generate, and maintain engineering data required for various system studies and project activities.
  • Prepare clear and comprehensive technical reports documenting study methodologies, results, and recommendations.
  • Manage assigned projects effectively, ensuring timely delivery while maintaining quality standards and meeting project objectives.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, with a focus on electric power systems or a related discipline.
  • 2–3 years of professional experience as a power systems engineer or in a similar engineering role.
  • Experience conducting power system impact studies, including steady-state analysis, short-circuit studies, and dynamic stability assessments.
  • Proficiency with power system simulation software such as PSS/E, PSCAD, TSAT, or equivalent tools.
  • Experience with engineering automation and programming using Python is highly valued.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage complex technical challenges.
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly through reports and collaboration with engineering teams.
