Power Systems Engineer III Generator/Plant Testing & Compliance

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Power Systems Engineer III – Generator/Plant Testing & Compliance based in United States.

This role offers the opportunity to contribute to the modernization of the power grid by supporting advanced generator testing, commissioning, and compliance activities.
You will work with renewable and conventional energy facilities across North America, ensuring reliable and efficient grid operations.
The position combines hands-on engineering analysis, remote testing leadership, and collaboration with plant operators, utilities, and equipment providers.
You will play a key role in validating plant performance, supporting regulatory compliance, and improving testing processes.

Accountabilities:

The Power Systems Engineer III – Generator/Plant Testing & Compliance will lead and support generator testing, commissioning, and compliance verification activities while collaborating with technical teams and stakeholders to ensure generation assets meet industry standards.

  • Lead and support generator compliance testing and commissioning activities for renewable and conventional power generation facilities.
  • Conduct remote testing sessions and provide real-time technical guidance to on-site technicians and plant operators.
  • Coordinate testing procedures with plant teams, SCADA personnel, OEMs, and other stakeholders to ensure accurate execution.
  • Monitor, analyze, and interpret live test data to validate plant performance and identify potential technical issues.
  • Support compliance verification activities related to NERC standards, including MOD-025, MOD-026, and MOD-027 requirements.
  • Evaluate generator performance, plant controller behavior, inverter-based resources, and related power system components.
  • Prepare detailed engineering reports documenting test results, compliance findings, and operational performance.
  • Assist in improving testing procedures, workflows, and engineering methodologies.
  • Participate in technical discussions with customers, utilities, independent power producers, and project stakeholders.
  • Support engineering analyses related to power plant controls, generator systems, and grid integration challenges.
Requirements:

The ideal candidate is an electrical engineering professional with experience in power systems, generator testing, and compliance activities. They should have strong analytical skills, technical communication abilities, and the confidence to lead complex testing initiatives.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering with a focus on power systems or a related discipline.
  • Experience supporting power plant testing, commissioning, generator performance testing, or compliance activities.
  • Knowledge of power system fundamentals, generator control systems, and plant performance analysis.
  • Familiarity with NERC compliance requirements and standards, including MOD-025, MOD-026, and MOD-027.
  • Experience with ISO market requirements such as ERCOT, SPP, PJM, or similar regional grid operators.
  • Ability to lead technical discussions and provide direction to field teams during testing activities.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret technical data and create clear engineering documentation.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present technical information to diverse stakeholders.
  • Preferred experience with SCADA systems, plant control systems, inverter-based resources, utilities, independent power producers, or renewable energy projects.
  • Experience conducting generator performance testing for renewable or conventional generation facilities is a plus.
