The Electrical Engineering Designer provides electrical computer-aided design (ECAD) expertise to support engineering programs from concept development through documentation and lifecycle management. The role requires strong technical execution, attention to detail, and collaboration with engineering teams to ensure accurate and compliant electrical designs.
- Develop electrical design deliverables, including schematics, printed wiring boards, circuit card assemblies, library components, and bills of materials.
- Support engineering teams by providing ECAD design expertise and collaborating with research and development engineers and technical specialists.
- Create, maintain, and manage electrical documentation using established design methods, standards, and engineering practices.
- Utilize project lifecycle management systems to archive, track, and maintain configuration control of design documentation.
- Support project intake, estimation, planning, execution, and progress reporting activities.
- Participate in technical meetings, design reviews, and collaborative discussions with engineering stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with applicable design standards, security requirements, safety procedures, and organizational processes.
- Contribute to project tracking, deliverable management, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Provide technical guidance and support for electrical design activities across multiple engineering programs.
The ideal candidate brings hands-on electrical design experience, strong knowledge of ECAD tools, and the ability to collaborate effectively within technical teams. Candidates should demonstrate strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and experience delivering engineering documentation in complex environments.
- Associate degree in engineering technology, electrical engineering, or a related technical field.
- 6+ years of relevant experience for senior-level placement or 8+ years for principal-level placement, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience using ECAD software to create schematics, printed wiring boards, circuit assemblies, component libraries, and bills of materials.
- Working knowledge of printed wiring board construction, fabrication, and assembly processes.
- Experience managing project deliverables, tracking progress, and supporting team objectives.
- Experience leading or supervising technical teams is preferred.
- Familiarity with Altium ECAD software and Siemens Teamcenter PLM software is highly desirable.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project, and Visio.
- Knowledge of electrical systems such as power electronics, analog, digital, RF, and electromagnetic interference (EMI).
- Familiarity with IPC standards and certifications such as CID or CID+ is preferred.
- Ability to work effectively in a secure engineering environment and meet applicable clearance eligibility requirements.
- U.S. citizenship required due to project and security requirements.
- Competitive salary range of $65,508 to $108,444 annually, based on experience, qualifications, and position level.
