Position Overview:
The Instrumentation & Electrical (I&E) Technician for Calabrian in Timmins, Ontario, Canada is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and improving electrical, instrumentation, and control systems to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient plant operations while supporting continuous improvement and regulatory compliance in a chemical plant.
What you will be doing:
- Perform troubleshooting, repair, preventative maintenance, and corrective maintenance on plant electrical, instrumentation, and control systems
- Install, maintain, and troubleshoot instrumentation, electrical equipment, and associated components throughout the facility
- Maintain and troubleshoot Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), networked control systems, and related automation equipment
- Read, interpret, and work from P&IDs, electrical schematics, blueprints, and maintenance manuals
- Install, troubleshoot, and maintain process control devices, alarms, shutdown systems, motor actuators, metering equipment, and tank gauging systems
- Run conduit, pull wire, replace motors, and maintain lighting systems and motor controls
- Partner with Operations teams to optimize plant performance, reliability, and process efficiency
- Diagnose equipment failures, perform root cause analysis, and recommend solutions to improve reliability and reduce downtime
- Inspect, test, repair, and maintain electrical, mechanical, and instrumentation equipment in accordance with manufacturer specifications
- Perform equipment inspections and visual checks of tanks, pumps, gauges, fans, gearboxes, meters, and other plant assets
- Operate mobile equipment, including telehandlers and manlifts, in support of maintenance activities
- Complete required maintenance documentation and ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards, environmental regulations, and Process Safety Management (PSM) requirements
Required Qualifications:
- 2+ years of industrial E&I maintenance experience
- Electrical and/or Instrumentation Technician certificate, diploma, or equivalent technical training
- Ability to troubleshoot electrical, instrumentation, PLC, and control systems
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and P&IDs
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work on-call as required
Preferred Qualifications:
- Red Seal Electrician (309A or 442A)
- Red Seal Instrumentation Technician (447A)
- Allen-Bradley/Rockwell Automation experience
- Studio 5000 and FactoryTalk View experience
- Process instrumentation calibration and HART communication experience
- Chemical manufacturing or other continuous-process industry experience
