POSITION TITLE: Computer Aided Design (CAD) Technician
LOCATION: North Bay, Ontario
Reports To: Customer Sales and Support Engineering Manager
Direct Reports: None
Salary: $60,000 to $67,000 annually
Purpose of Role
The CAD Technician position is an entry level position within the Customer Service Support Engineering Department. The purpose of this position is to complete basic tasks and projects to support Department documentation priorities. The position involves both individual and team-oriented assignments.
Training might be required to be completed at one of our other Ontario Sites
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Complete drawing updates for parts books using DraftSight and SolidWorks with adherence to proper engineering change notice (ECN) processes.
- Updating existing drawings and models based on after-market kit installation details and feedback.
- Assist more senior designers with engineering changes related to “as built” updates made during kit installations.
- Converting rough sketches and verbal instructions into precise digital representations.
- Reviewing drawings to ensure they conform to drawing standards.
- Support the creation of Product Service Bulletins (PSB) and Maintenance Bulletins (MB) in a clear and effective manner.
- Organizing and archiving CAD files, project documentation.
- CAD Technician is expected to work in harmony within the Engineering department and the other departments. This requires the technician to communicate in a productive and professional manner with co-workers, recognizing possible problems and approaching a fellow designer to make recommendations is encouraged but requires both parties to engage in that discussion in a professional manner.
- Assisting in the development and maintenance of CAD procedures.
Qualifications
Education
- CAD Technician diploma or degree from a recognized post-secondary institution
Experience
- 0-3 years of experience in design and/or manufacturing of heavy equipment
- Able to use Solidworks and DraftSight for simple mechanical, Electrical, Hydraulic designs
- Computer literate in MS Office software (Word, Excel, Project)
- Capable of writing technical documents in a clear and effective manner
- Understanding basic manufacturing processes
