Lead QA Engineer

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Lead QA Engineer based in Canada.

We are seeking an experienced Lead QA Engineer to drive quality assurance initiatives and ensure the reliability of innovative mobile and web application solutions.
This role offers the opportunity to lead testing strategies, improve QA processes, and collaborate with cross-functional teams throughout the product lifecycle.
You will take ownership of quality standards by designing comprehensive test plans, identifying risks, and ensuring exceptional user experiences.
The ideal candidate combines strong manual testing expertise with leadership skills and a passion for continuous improvement.
You will work closely with product managers, developers, designers, and automation specialists to deliver high-quality software products.

Accountabilities:

The Lead QA Engineer will be responsible for leading quality assurance activities, improving testing practices, and ensuring product reliability across mobile and web platforms.

  • Lead the creation and execution of comprehensive test plans, test cases, and testing strategies to validate functionality, usability, and performance.
  • Oversee manual testing activities for mobile applications and web applications, including new features, enhancements, and bug fixes.
  • Collaborate with product managers, developers, and designers to understand requirements and provide quality-focused feedback throughout the development process.
  • Drive continuous improvement of QA methodologies, processes, and tools to increase testing efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Own defect identification, documentation, prioritization, and tracking while collaborating with development teams on timely resolutions.
  • Manage regression testing activities to ensure existing functionality remains stable after product updates.
  • Conduct exploratory testing to identify usability issues, edge cases, and opportunities for product improvement.
  • Partner with automation engineers to support the development of automated testing frameworks, scripts, and tools.
  • Mentor and guide QA team members while promoting best practices and a strong quality culture.
Requirements:

The ideal candidate has extensive QA experience, strong testing expertise, and the ability to lead quality initiatives in a technology-driven environment.

  • 8+ years of experience in software quality assurance, with significant experience leading QA activities.
  • Strong expertise in manual testing of mobile applications and web applications.
  • Deep understanding of QA methodologies, testing principles, defect management, and industry best practices.
  • Proven ability to create detailed test plans, test cases, and test scripts based on functional and technical requirements.
  • Experience using test management tools, issue tracking systems, and version control systems.
  • Strong knowledge of software testing lifecycle, regression testing, and exploratory testing techniques.
  • Familiarity with mobile platforms including iOS and Android and their specific testing requirements.
  • Experience collaborating with automation engineers and supporting automated testing initiatives.
  • Strong analytical, debugging, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills with a proactive, positive, and collaborative mindset.
