Direct Support Professional Residential at The Arc Madison Cortland – Cortland, New York

SUMMARY: The Direct Support Professional provides self-care training and assistance in daily living to individuals with developmental disabilities residing in a group home setting.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Provides individualized care as outlined in the individuals Life Plan, or ISP.
• Assists Individuals in the primary activities of daily living (toileting, feeding, cooking, cleaning) as outlined in individual's ISP to promote independence.
• Maintains files and produces service notes and documentation on assigned caseload.
• Documents and submits reports to the program as outlined in the assigned department.
• Maximized consumer's social skills in order to enable him/her to live in their community by providing activities in a community setting.

About the ARC’S Residence Program: In the residential program, the most caring people are the trained staff who provide 24-hour supervision, care, and guidance to residents. They assist with personal care needs, cleaning, cooking, medications, and activities.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High School or GED: acceptable New York State Drivers License and 12 months driving history.
