Life Skills Specialist — Help People Build Confidence and Independence in Morrisville, New York at Crouse-Community Center Inc

Make a meaningful impact by helping tenants build the practical skills, routines, and confidence needed for greater independence. As a Life Skills Specialist, you will provide hands-on instruction in Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) and Instrumental Activities of Daily Living (IADLs), working closely with the program team to support each participant’s individualized goals.

This full-time role is scheduled for 75 hours every two weeks and includes two Saturday shifts per month.

• Assess independent living skills using a functional evaluation to identify strengths, needs, and areas for growth.
• Collaborate on ILST plans with the Case Manager, outlining goals and step-by-step strategies for progress.
• Provide one-on-one coaching to strengthen daily routines, household management, budgeting, bill-paying, transportation use, and other essential life skills.
• Participate in scheduled meetings with participants and the Case Manager to review progress and adjust goals.
• Support social and educational programming by helping plan and deliver activities that build confidence and community connection.
• Lead group life-skills sessions focused on practical skill-building and peer engagement.
• Assist with monthly structured programming to ensure consistent, meaningful opportunities for growth.
• Accompany participants to outings or appointments; must be willing to drive a company-provided vehicle.
• Perform other duties as assigned to support program operations.

• Bachelor’s degree or relevant experience in human services, coaching, education, or direct support preferred; equivalent combinations of experience and training will be considered.
• Dependability, professionalism, and strict confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA.
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record required.
• CPR certification required or ability to obtain within 3 months of hire.
