Regional Skilled Trades Talent Scout
We are seeking a highly driven, aggressive, and relationship-focused Regional Production Talent Scout to support the continued growth of our production teams across our markets in Syracuse, Albany, Rochester, and Buffalo, New York.
This is not a traditional recruiting position. We are not looking for someone who simply posts jobs, reviews resumes, schedules interviews, or waits for applicants to apply. We are seeking a true talent hunter, someone who thrives on proactively identifying, building relationships with, and securing highly skilled production professionals and contractor partners in competitive markets.
This position is exclusively focused on identifying and attracting top production talent, including:
- Crew Leaders
- Crew Leader Candidates (“Crew Leads to Be”)
- Crew Seconds
- Skilled Production Professionals
- General Contractors/Subcontractors
within the following trades:
- Windows
- Siding
- Roofing
- Bathrooms
- Sunrooms/Decks
and will support staffing efforts throughout our markets in:
- Syracuse
- Albany
- Rochester
- Buffalo
What This Role Looks Like
The successful candidate will spend the majority of their time actively prospecting, networking, and building relationships in the field to identify highly skilled production talent.
This role requires someone who is comfortable being highly visible, highly proactive, and constantly developing relationships throughout the construction and home improvement industries.
Examples of recruiting activity include:
- Visiting competitor job sites to identify and engage highly skilled production talent
- Building relationships with installers, crew leaders, subcontractors, and production professionals throughout our markets
- Spending time at contractor-focused locations such as Home Depot and Lowe’s Pro Desks to network with contractors and identify potential talent
- Monitoring local social media groups, contractor pages, and homeowner requests where contractors are being recommended or responding to service inquiries
- Contacting contractors and skilled trades professionals to discuss partnership opportunities
- Building and maintaining a pipeline of highly qualified production talent and contractor relationships
- Networking within construction and home improvement communities to identify future talent opportunities
- Partnering with operational leadership to understand workforce priorities and talent gaps across multiple locations
Travel Expectations
This position supports multiple markets and requires regular travel throughout Syracuse, Albany, Rochester, and Buffalo. The successful candidate must be comfortable spending significant time in the field, visiting job sites, networking locations, and contractor communities.
Required Background
- Proven success in relationship-building, networking, canvassing, recruiting, contractor development, business development, outside sales, or field-based talent acquisition
- Strong understanding of construction, home improvement, remodeling, or skilled trades industries
- Ability to identify top-tier talent and build trust-based relationships with highly skilled tradespeople
- Highly self-motivated, persistent, and comfortable with proactive outreach and field networking
- Comfortable approaching individuals in the field and building rapport quickly
- Strong communication, networking, and influencing skills
- Ability to work independently and consistently generate talent leads and contractor relationships
- Willingness and ability to travel regularly between markets
Important Compliance Expectations
This role will support the identification of both W-2 production employees and independent contractor/general contractor partners. The successful candidate must understand the importance of maintaining appropriate separation in recruiting approaches, communications, documentation, and engagement practices to support worker classification compliance and organizational standards.
