Registration Clerk at Golden Valley Memorial Hospital – Clinton, Missouri

Job Description:
General job functions for this position include, but are not limited to, registering inpatients/outpatients, ED patients, and pre-registering pain clinic and surgery patients. Operate the hospital’s multi-line switchboard, announce overhead paging, locating and contacting physicians. Responsibilities also include monitoring safety code panels and announcing codes overhead. Responsible for collecting co-pays, deductibles, and co-insurance from patients.

Responsibilities:
Accurately register all patients in a friendly, timely, and efficient manner both in the outpatient lobby and bedside in the Emergency Department. Accurately code all registrations with the correct insurance and check eligibility as required. Collect co-pays, co-insurance, and deductible amounts as required. Answer and direct all calls at the switchboard in a friendly and efficient manner. Monitor all code panels at the switchboard and promptly pass all codes overhead in a manner consistent with Registration policies.

Education/Credentials:
High School or equivalent (GED)
Must be proficient in working with personal computers.
Type at least 40 WPM is required.
Switchboard experience is desired.
Ability to communicate effectively via email.
Be able to work holidays, weekends and overnight.
May be called in to work when not scheduled.
This job requires some reaching, lifting, bending, and can include extended periods of sitting and standing.
Must be able to hear sufficiently, and speak clearly to communicate with patients and colleagues.
