Johnson C. Smith University invites dynamic and detail-oriented applicants for the position of Student Accounts Coordinator/Staff Accountant within the Business Office, Division of Financial Affairs. The successful candidate will play a vital role in supporting the University’s financial operations by overseeing student account processes, ensuring accuracy and compliance, and promoting efficient systems that enhance the overall student financial experience. Reporting to the Student Accounts Manager, the Student Accounts Coordinator/Staff Accountant will contribute significantly to the University’s mission by supporting student success through sound financial practices, responsive service, and continuous process improvement. The ideal candidate will possess the ability to perform sedentary work, including operating standard office equipment and occasionally lifting light materials. They will demonstrate strong analytical skills, with the ability to evaluate and interpret data accurately and make sound judgments.

Excellent communication skills are essential, including the ability to clearly convey information, follow instructions, and interact effectively with a variety of stakeholders. The candidate must have strong language proficiency, enabling them to prepare and review reports, correspondence, and financial documents with accuracy and professionalism.

The role requires critical thinking and problem-solving abilities, including the capacity to apply established principles to varied situations and work independently when needed. Strong verbal and technical communication skills, along with proficiency in basic mathematical and accounting concepts, are also necessary for success in this position.





Bachelor’s degree in business administration or related field from an accredited college or university required with 3 to 5 years related management experience in accounts receivable position. Excellent oral and written communication, organizational, interpersonal, and administration skills essential. Must be able to work independently and as part of a team, and be adaptable to changing job requirements and deadlines. Must be open to assisting other areas as needed within the Business and Finance Office. Experience at higher education institution preferred. Preferred Jenzabar experience.
