Position Summary

The Quality Incoming Inspector is responsible for providing support to the Quality Assurance and Shipping/Receiving teams. S/he will assist with receiving and perform inspection of all cannabis, raw materials, and packaging. The Quality Incoming Inspector will also assist in document management, data entry, and administrative support related to Quality Assurance. S/he will aid in the ongoing implementation and monitoring of the quality assurance systems.

  • Job Duties

  • Serve as an integral member of the Quality Assurance team, interact/communicate cross-functionally to ensure business objectives are aligned, and ensure that the organization meets its quality, regulatory and business objectives.
  • Assist in Quality Assurance activities to ensure compliance with Health Canada’s regulatory guidelines and internal SOP’s pertaining to production, processing, packaging, labeling, and shipping.
  • Prepare, verify, and modify technical documents related to incoming inspection specifications.
  • Perform incoming inspection for QA releases of product and documentation reviews including CoAs for raw materials and packaging.
  • Prepare samples for incoming inspection.
  • Prepare retain samples of incoming cannabis or raw material as required.
  • Perform QA release in ERP for raw materials and packaging.
  • Issuance of Supplier Corrective Actions on issues and defects found on product delivered by a supplier.
  • Create deviations, perform risk assessments and investigations for successful closure of non-conformances.
  • Assist in the receiving of incoming material.
  • Storage of accepted incoming material while maintaining FIFO
  • Reviewing and printing logbooks, scanning, and photocopying of QA documents including correspondence, reports, drafts, memos, and emails.
  • Responsible for monitoring, calibration, and verification of equipment used in the receiving, shipping, and warehouse with support from maintenance team.
  • Assist with in-house, 2nd party and 3rd party audits/inspections and/or documentation requests by clients, inspection bodies etc.
  • Complete data entry, organize and fill controlled documents and maintain record keeping.
  • Assist in the preparation of QA deliveries and facilitate shipments.
  • Ability to read and follow written and verbal work instructions
  • Ensure compliance with safe work practices, SOP’s, and all applicable regulations
  • Assist in any task the Head of Facilities designates as an immediate priority to preserve the physical or environmental security of the building, its contents, or staff
  • Attend any training session designated by the Company
  • Prepare management information reports or other duties as assigned by management depending on business needs

  • Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science Degree (BSc) or equivalent degree/diploma in an applicable Science related field or equivalent qualification is preferred.
  • 2-5 years of work experience in a related field required. (e.g., food industry, pharmaceutical, biomedical)
  • Previous experience in either the cannabis industry is an asset
  • Knowledge of GPP, HACCP/PCP, GMP, ISO 9001, and Health Canada cannabis regulations is an asset
  • Health Canada security clearance is an advantage
  • Laboratory experience is an asset
  • Knowledge and experience in chemistry, microbiology and pharmacology is an asset
  • Strong knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Excellent analytical skills, strong attention to detail and multitasking
  • Excellent time management and prioritization skills
  • Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Criminal Background check required
  • Reliable attendance is mandatory
  • Excellent workplace housekeeping is essential
  • Strong team player with ability to assist whenever required
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision

  • Working Conditions

  • Available for work on the weekends as needed- variable shift timings as per business needs
  • Required PPE provided: Scrubs, gloves, hairnets as required, and safety shoes.
