Job Description
Position Title: Driver
Reports To: General Manager
I. Scope and Summary of Primary Responsibilities
The Driver provides a safe, inclusive, accessible, and positive transportation experience for Lake Joe participants. The Driver will hold guest experience as the highest priority while providing safe transportation services for guests (children, youth, adults, seniors, families). The Driver will transport guests to and from CNIB Lake Joe from different regions across Ontario. Drivers may also assist with town runs, picking up supplies and other transportation related duties
II. Essential FunctionsThe position entails, but is not limited to the following general responsibilities:
- Assist participants and always keep safety at the forefront; demonstrate safe and responsible driving habits when in control of vehicles and comply with all traffic and road safety laws.
- Conduct and document a comprehensive safety check of vehicles (minivan and/or other vehicles requiring Class G license) prior to use and ensure vehicles are operating in good condition, with adequate fuel, etc.
- Complete required logbooks and paperwork to track the amount of fuel used and number of passengers transported.
- Maintain a safe environment within the vehicle by enforcing rules of conduct and responding to emergencies, as necessary.
- Maintain cleanliness of vehicles (inside and outside), alert management to any maintenance requirements.
- Other duties as assigned.
III. Qualifications
Knowledge and Skill Requirements
- Strong interpersonal skills, including patience and communication.
- Experience working in camps or other recreational facilities an asset.
- Valid Class G driver’s license (minimum) required.
- Class F driver’s license or equivalent an asset.
- Current Vulnerable Sector Police Record Check.
- Current and valid Driver’s Abstract.
- Current Standard First Aid and CPR-C an asset.
- Must be 25 years or older.
Experience and Education
- High school diploma an asset.
- Related experience an asset

- Ability to interact with participants, volunteers, staff, and vendors in a pleasant and professional manner.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, weekdays and/or weekends.
- Ability to lift heavy objects more than 30 lbs. (e.g., luggage).
- Respects the importance of confidential information while effectively functioning as a team member or working independently.
