About the Role:
The Preschool Teacher Assistant plays a vital role in supporting lead teachers to create a nurturing and educational environment for young children. This position focuses on assisting with daily classroom activities, ensuring the safety and well-being of each child, and fostering their social, emotional, and cognitive development. The assistant helps implement lesson plans and engages children in age-appropriate learning experiences that promote curiosity and growth. Ultimately, the role contributes to laying a strong foundation for lifelong learning and positive early childhood experiences.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- DCF Certification
- Experience working with young children in an educational or childcare setting.
- Bilingual in Spanish.
- Basic knowledge of early childhood development principles.
- Ability to pass background checks and meet state-mandated health and safety requirements.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Child Development Associate (CDA) credential or equivalent early childhood education certification.
- Previous experience as a preschool teacher assistant or in a similar role.
- CPR and First Aid certification.
- Familiarity with classroom technology and educational software.
Responsibilities:
- Assist lead teachers in preparing and implementing daily lesson plans and activities.
- Supervise and engage with children during classroom activities, playtime, and meals to ensure safety and participation.
- Support children’s social and emotional development by encouraging positive interactions and guiding behavior.
- Help maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming classroom environment.
- Communicate effectively with teachers and parents regarding children’s progress and any concerns.
- Assist with classroom setup, materials preparation, and cleanup at the end of the day.
- Participate in staff meetings and professional development opportunities as required.

The Preschool Teacher Assistant uses strong interpersonal and communication skills daily to interact effectively with children, teachers, and parents, ensuring a supportive learning environment. Organizational skills are essential for managing classroom materials, assisting with lesson preparation, and maintaining cleanliness and order.
