Job Description
Provides classroom coverage during the short-term absence of a regularly assigned teacher. The Daily Substitute Teacher follows established lesson plans, maintains classroom routines, supervises students, and supports a safe and productive learning environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Implement teacher-provided lesson plans and assigned classroom activities.
Maintain classroom routines and a safe, respectful, productive learning environment.
Take accurate attendance and maintain required classroom records.
Supervise students during instruction, transitions, arrival/dismissal, lunch, recess, and assigned activities.
Follow the Student Code of Conduct and established school procedures.
Refer significant behavioral, safety, or student welfare concerns to administration.
Protect student confidentiality and follow all safety and emergency procedures.
Leave clear notes for the regular teacher regarding completed work, participation, and concerns.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or equivalent.
Meet applicable Florida and school requirements for substitute teachers.
Successfully complete required background screening and fingerprinting.
Ability to supervise students, follow lesson plans, and communicate effectively.
Dependable, punctual, professional, and adaptable.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
College coursework or degree in education or a related field.
Previous substitute, tutoring, instructional, childcare, or school-based experience.
Florida teaching certificate or substitute credentials, where applicable.

Compensation: Pay is determined based on the candidate’s qualifications, professional certifications, and level of education, including advanced degrees.
