This role sits at the core of a next-generation runtime platform powering secure, cross-platform execution environments for modern and AI-driven workloads. You will lead a highly specialized team working at the intersection of operating systems, virtualization, and container technology, building the foundational layer that enables safe and scalable execution of workloads across Windows, macOS, and Linux. The environment is deeply technical and highly collaborative, requiring strong systems expertise and the ability to translate architectural vision into reliable delivery. You will own both technical direction and team leadership, ensuring engineering excellence while supporting innovation in sandboxed and isolated runtime environments. In this role, you will lead the development and evolution of a cross-platform runtime system that supports secure execution of containerized and AI workloads. You will be responsible for both technical leadership and organizational effectiveness, ensuring high-quality delivery across distributed systems.
- Lead and grow a team of 6–10 engineers focused on runtime systems across Windows, macOS, and Linux.
- Define and own the technical strategy, architecture, and roadmap for the runtime platform.
- Partner with product management to align engineering execution with business priorities and user needs.
- Ensure reliability, scalability, and predictable delivery across all runtime components.
- Hire, mentor, and retain top-tier systems engineering talent while maintaining a high technical bar.
- Drive cross-team alignment and communication on complex technical initiatives.
- Oversee system design decisions involving virtualization, container runtimes, and OS-level integration.
The ideal candidate is a deeply technical engineering leader with strong systems programming experience and a proven track record of managing high-performing teams in complex infrastructure environments. You are comfortable operating at both architectural and execution levels.
- 5+ years of experience managing engineering teams in high-performance, systems-focused environments.
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in systems programming (e.g., hypervisors, kernel development, container runtimes, or OS internals).
- Deep understanding of virtualization technologies, including VMMs, hypervisors, and hardware-assisted virtualization.
- Strong experience with container ecosystems such as OCI, containerd, or runc.
- Cross-platform expertise across at least two of: Windows, macOS, Linux.
- Proven ability to hire, develop, and retain senior engineering talent.
- Strong communication skills with experience working in globally distributed, remote-first teams.
