Job Description

Description:

We are seeking a compassionate, detail-oriented, and dependable Behavioral Health Medical Assistant to support providers and patients in a behavioral health setting intergrated with primary care. The ideal candidate demonstrates patience, empathy, professionalism, and strong communication skills while maintaining confidentiality and providing high-quality patient care.

Requirements:

Provide English-Spanish interpretation for clinicians and patients during office visits, evaluations, treatment discussions, procedures, and other clinical interactions.

Accurately communicate information between clinicians and Spanish-speaking patients while maintaining the meaning, tone, and confidentiality of the conversation.

Administer and accurately document behavioral health screenings, including PHQ-9, DA-7, and other appropriate clinical assessments.

Properly prepare and set up examination rooms for office visits, treatments, and/or procedures.

Escort patients to examination rooms and prepare them for evaluation by the provider.

Obtain and accurately document vital signs, screening results, patient history, and personal information while completing all required compliance and regulatory documentation.

Assist providers with charting and clinical documentation as directed.

Assist with prior authorizations and medication refill requests.

Assist providers with examinations, treatments, and procedures as instructed.

Order laboratory testing and in-office diagnostic testing when necessary and as directed.

Explain treatment procedures, medications, and provider instructions to patients in a clear, professional, and compassionate manner.

Maintain clean, orderly, and properly sanitized examination rooms and clinical workspaces.

Stock clinical supplies and complete order forms as necessary.

Screen and direct clinical phone calls and patient requests appropriately, escalating concerns to the provider or clinical team when necessary.

Retrieve, document, and respond appropriately to requests received through voicemail and other communication channels.

Perform front-office administrative duties, including checking in patients, verifying completion of required paperwork, and uploading patient intake forms, screenings, and questionnaires.

Support efficient patient flow and provide a welcoming, respectful, and compassionate patient experience.

Work collaboratively with providers and clinical staff to support quality patient care.

Qualifications

Bilingual in English and Spanish — fluent Spanish speaking and interpreting skills required.

Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program.

Two years of Medical Assistant experience in any medical specialty preferred.

Good working knowledge of medical terminology.

Experience working with EMR/EHR systems.

Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

Ability to demonstrate patience, empathy, compassion, and professionalism when working with patients.
