Job Description

Platform Engineer

This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Platform Engineer in Canada.

You will join a highly technical environment where cloud infrastructure, Kubernetes, and distributed edge systems converge to support large-scale fleet operations. This role is central to ensuring that internal platforms are reliable, observable, and capable of supporting mission-critical services across cloud and physical environments. You will work across AWS, Kubernetes, Linux-based edge systems, and modern observability stacks to build and maintain the backbone of production systems. Acting as both a builder and operator, you will help engineering teams ship software with confidence by improving deployment pipelines, automation, and system resilience. You will also play a key role in bridging cloud infrastructure with real-world hardware deployed in the field. The environment is fast-paced, highly collaborative, and focused on operational excellence at scale. This is a hands-on engineering role with direct impact on system reliability and developer experience.

Accountabilities
  • Own and evolve cloud infrastructure on AWS, including services such as EKS, EC2, IAM, ALB/ELB, ECR, and Auto Scaling, with a strong focus on reliability, scalability, and cost efficiency.
  • Manage and improve Kubernetes environments, including deployments, ingress, Helm releases, HPA, secrets management, and production incident response across distributed systems.
  • Design and maintain observability solutions using tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, Loki, Tempo, OpenTelemetry, and Datadog to ensure actionable system visibility.
  • Build and support edge and field infrastructure running Linux-based systems, ensuring reliable connectivity, data flow, and operational resilience in distributed environments.
  • Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code using Terraform and Ansible, along with CI/CD pipelines to reduce manual processes and improve deployment reliability.
  • Improve developer experience by creating internal tools, automation, and standardized “golden paths” that enable engineering teams to deploy and operate services efficiently.
  • Collaborate with security teams to implement secure-by-default practices, including secrets management, policy enforcement, and least-privilege access models.
Requirements
  • 5+ years of experience in platform engineering, site reliability engineering, DevOps, or infrastructure-focused roles at production scale.
  • Strong expertise in Linux systems administration (Ubuntu, Debian), including networking, systemd, package management, and troubleshooting.
  • Proven hands-on experience with Kubernetes, including debugging, performance tuning, and end-to-end request tracing in complex environments.
  • Strong knowledge of AWS cloud infrastructure and related services such as networking, compute, and container orchestration.
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform and configuration management tools such as Ansible.
  • Solid understanding of networking fundamentals, including DNS, TCP/IP, TLS, firewalls, VPNs, and load balancing across cloud and edge systems.
  • Proficiency with observability tooling and query languages such as PromQL, LogQL, SQL, and CloudWatch queries.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to write clear documentation, runbooks, and explain complex systems to diverse audiences.
  • Nice to have: experience with Datadog, Windows Server, SQL Server, CI/CD platforms (GitHub, GitLab, Azure DevOps), or edge/embedded environments.
Benefits
  • Competitive compensation package.
  • Comprehensive benefits including healthcare coverage.
  • Flexible remote work options within Canada.
  • Opportunities to work on large-scale distributed systems combining cloud and edge infrastructure.
  • Professional development in cloud engineering, DevOps, and platform architecture.
  • Exposure to modern observability, Kubernetes, and infrastructure automation toolchains.
  • Inclusive and collaborative work culture focused on engineering excellence.
