JOB SUMMARY

Adjunct Faculty work(s) with the Dean of the School of Population Health to assist with the planning, development, advancement, and delivery of curriculum within the school’s programs, including the Master of Public Health (MPH) and Doctor of Public Health (DrPH). The primary focus is on delivering coursework through Learning Management Systems (LMS) with an emphasis on nutritional, rural, and indigenous health offerings. Adjunct Faculty engage(s) in teaching and assessment activities that support the mission of a student-centered, equity-minded institution. They will assist with educational activities across ACHE’s School of Population Health MPH and DrPH Programs as appropriate.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Curriculum Integration: Work with Program Directors and faculty to integrate aspects of wellness, population health, and interprofessional education throughout the MPH and DrPH curricula.
  • Instructional Excellence: Lead the teaching of specialized concepts, such as nutrition, rural health, and indigenous contexts, across the school’s offerings.
  • Student Assessment: Participate in the assessment and evaluation of students, providing feedback and remedial assistance to ensure standards established by the faculty and CEPH accreditation are met.
  • Technology and Data Privacy: Responsibility for ensuring data privacy (HIPAA/FERPA) within the school’s research and community health projects.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Dean of the School of Population Health or their designee.
Requirements:

QUALIFICATIONS AND CREDENTIALS

Education and Experience

Minimum Qualifications

  • Terminal degree: PhD, EdD, DrPH, DO, or MD (with current Board certification in appropriate area of specialization if applicable).
  • Master’s degree in public health, nutrition, nutritional science, or a related population health discipline.
  • Three (3) to five (5) years of full-time academic experience at a College of Osteopathic Medicine, College of Allopathic Medicine, Academic Health Care Teaching Center, or Graduate Medical Education Program, or within a federal, tribal, or state public health agency.
  • Good standing with all regulatory and governmental boards and agencies.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Five (5) to ten (10) years of full-time academic experience in a health profession or graduate medical education setting.
  • Demonstrated productivity in professional service and a proven track record of meaningful community engagement, including community-based participatory research, public health advocacy, and the development of sustainable partnerships with local and regional stakeholders.
  • Experience with the CEPH accreditation process and outcomes assessment.

Required knowledge, skills, and abilities

  • Proficiency in delivering healthcare education online.
  • Knowledge of varied curriculum templates, educational formats, and emerging instructional technologies.
  • Ability to mentor and motivate students toward academic and professional excellence.
  • Depth of knowledge in medical, psychological, or social disciplines required for population health education.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills to engage with diverse learners and stakeholders.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in computer skills, i.e. Microsoft Office.
  • Display professionalism for the college in all communication and interactions.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and privacy.
  • Ability to prioritize and organize numerous and varied assignments.

Physical and Sensory Abilities

  • May be exposed to short, intermittent, and/or prolonged periods of sitting and/or standing in performance of job duties.
  • May be required to accomplish job duties using various types of equipment/supplies to include, but not limited to pens, pencils, calculators, computer keyboards, telephone, etc.
  • May be required to transport oneself to other campus offices, conference rooms, and on occasion, to off-campus sites to attend meetings, conferences, workshops, seminars, etc.
  • May require significant travel or work away from campus.
  • Requires attendance at events representing ACHE both within as well as outside of the college setting.
  • Frequently required to work at a desk, conference table or in meetings of various configurations.
  • Frequently required to see for purposes of reading matter.
  • Frequently required to hear and understand speech at normal levels.
  • Occasionally required to lift items in a normal office environment.
  • Ability to safely lift and carry up to 25 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Frequently required to operate office and presentation equipment.
