Job Description

Staff Engineer, Systems & Integrations

This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Staff Engineer, Systems & Integrations in Canada.

This role sits at the core of internal operations and plays a key part in shaping how systems, tools, and data flow across the organization. You will design and evolve the integrations and internal platforms that connect business-critical systems, enabling teams to work more efficiently and reliably. Acting as both architect and hands-on builder, you will drive end-to-end technical ownership—from discovery and design to implementation and long-term support. The environment is fast-moving, highly collaborative, and requires someone comfortable navigating ambiguity while making pragmatic engineering decisions. You will partner closely with non-technical stakeholders to translate business needs into scalable technical solutions. This is a high-impact role where your work directly improves operational efficiency and organizational scalability.

Accountabilities

In this role, you will own the design, delivery, and evolution of internal systems and integrations that power key business workflows:

  • Lead the full lifecycle of internal systems and integration projects, from discovery and requirements gathering to architecture, implementation, and production support
  • Define and maintain a long-term systems roadmap aligned with business priorities and operational goals
  • Design and build reliable integrations between internal platforms and external tools such as Shopify, HubSpot, Airtable, and others
  • Develop automation solutions that reduce manual work and improve operational efficiency across teams
  • Establish engineering standards for internal systems, including testing, documentation, security, and maintainability
  • Build and maintain observability solutions including monitoring, logging, alerting, and dashboards to ensure system reliability
  • Proactively identify system risks, troubleshoot production issues, and implement long-term improvements
Requirements

Candidates should bring deep engineering expertise in system design, integrations, and operational ownership, along with strong communication and leadership skills:

  • 8+ years of software engineering experience building internal tools, integrations, automation systems, or SaaS platforms
  • Proven experience owning technical projects end-to-end, including discovery, architecture, and production delivery
  • Strong experience with API-based integrations (REST, webhooks) and modern programming languages such as Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, or Go
  • Solid understanding of system architecture, reliability engineering, and scalable design principles
  • Experience making pragmatic build-vs-buy decisions with a balance of short-term delivery and long-term scalability
  • Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to translate ambiguous business needs into clear technical solutions
  • Experience with observability, monitoring, and production system health ownership
  • Strong communication skills and ability to influence technical direction without formal authority
  • Bonus: experience with SQL/Postgres, Shopify ecosystems, data pipelines, automation tools (Zapier/Make), or AI-assisted workflows
Benefits
  • Competitive compensation aligned with experience ($130,000–$150,000 CAD)
  • Remote-first flexibility across Canada and access to office hubs
  • Comprehensive health and dental coverage from day one
  • 4 weeks of paid vacation plus additional holiday shutdown time
  • RRSP matching program up to 3%
  • Annual health and wellness allowance ($500) and home office allowance ($400)
  • Monthly phone stipend
  • Parental leave top-up program
  • Education and learning support programs
  • Volunteer day, referral program, and employee recognition initiatives
  • Social events and a strong culture of collaboration and inclusivity
