POSITION SUMMARY

The Human Resource (HR) Generalist is responsible for running the daily functions of the HR department at the Cincinnati Art Museum in partnership with the Director of Human Resources and the HR Coordinator. Duties include talent acquisition, employee engagement, employee relations, benefits, compensation, workforce development, compliance, and administration. This position requires an extremely perceptive individual with emotional intelligence who can relate to individuals at all levels within the organization.

This role is salaried exempt and scheduled 35 hours per week with a typical workweek of Monday-Friday 9am-5pm. This role is heavily onsite.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Reporting to the Director of Human Resources, duties include but are not limited to:

  • Full lifecycle recruitment from advertising, interviewing, to employment offers. Working with managers throughout the hiring process. Handles onboarding and new hire orientation.
  • Manage the internship program and internship budget.
  • Lead and implement staff engagement programs, HR events, and initiatives with the HR Coordinator.
  • Consult, coach, and advise managers and employees on employee relations, performance management, and conflict resolution. Provide managers with insight and solutions related to ongoing concerns.
  • Communicate staffing issues and concerns to museum leadership.
  • Conduct internal investigations on staffing issues and concerns.
  • Provide guidance and input on business unit restructuring, workforce planning, and succession planning.
  • Develop and implement HR policies, procedures, and programs which promote an inclusive work environment.
  • Administer benefits and leave with the HR Coordinator. Organize and work collaboratively with the HR department on open enrollment communication and election process.
  • Analyze trends and metrics to develop solutions, programs, and policies. Identifies opportunities for process improvement and implement efficient and effective solutions.
  • Work with outside consultants during analysis of CAM’s compensation and total rewards reviews.
  • With the HR Coordinator, maintain employee personnel files and verify all necessary documentation as dictated by governing agencies.
  • Distribute and monitor employee performance evaluations and ensure they are done in a timely manner.
  • Update, monitor, and maintain eligible salary adjustments/increases based on promotions and annual evaluations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, or a related field and 3-5 years of human resources experience, preferably in a non-profit organization. Candidates may also have an equivalent combination of education and years of experience.
  • Previous management experience preferred.
  • SHRM or PHR certification preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Proficiency in ADP or similar HRIS.
  • Team player with strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to collaborate with various and diverse groups of people.
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
  • Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.
  • Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift 25 pounds at times.
  • Must be able to access and navigate each department at the museum.
