Job Description

Surgical and Billing Operations Coordinator

Summary: A Surgical and Billing Operations Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the administrative aspects of surgical procedures, including scheduling, billing, and ensuring compliance with regulations. Key duties may include managing patient records, coordinating with insurance companies, handling billing inquiries, and optimizing operational processes to improve efficiency. Strong organizational and communication skills are essential, along with knowledge of medical terminology and billing practices. Additionally, attention to detail and the ability to multitask effectively are important for success in this role. Serves as liaison between surgeons, leadership, surgical technicians, billing and Supply Chain in preparation for surgical cases.


Education: High school education required. Associate’s degree preferred.


Experience: Prior hospital or surgical operations experience 1-3 years.


Skills and Abilities:


· Intermediate excel, Microsoft office, and system skills.

· Knowledge and ability of Meditech or equivalent buying system.

· Ability to utilize sound interpersonal skills, communication, and analytical skills.

· Minimal supervisions with motivation and self-direction to attain daily/annual tactical and strategic goals.

· Knowledge of booking, billing, and planning for surgical cases.


Working Conditions, Physical Environment and/or Safety Requirements:


Stands, sits, walks, stoops, climbs, and lifts 50 pounds and pushes supply carts on an occasional to regular basis throughout the workday. Verbal, visual and listening skills and ability required. Potential for exposure to hazardous material, sharp instruments, noise intimately. May be exposed to infection. Frequently exposed to a highly pressured and rapidly changing environment. Meets all safety requirements associated with the Medical Center.
