About XRHEALTH INC
XRHealth is a global leader in immersive healthcare technology, bringing innovative digital therapeutics directly into patients’ homes. Our portfolio includes Medicare-covered virtual reality medical devices (HCPCS E1905), digital therapeutic applications, and AI-powered healthcare solutions that improve the lives of patients living with chronic pain, neurological conditions, mental health disorders, and more.
With over 50,000 patients treated, 1 million+ therapy sessions delivered, and partnerships across Medicare, the VA, commercial payers, employers, and healthcare providers, XRHealth is rapidly expanding its Products business.
The Role
The Chief Medical Officer is XRHealth's senior clinical leader and is accountable for all medical and clinical-related activities across the company. Reporting to the CEO and serving on the executive leadership team, the CMO sets clinical strategy, owns quality and patient safety, governs the clinical use of AI, builds the evidence base behind our products, and serves as the company's external clinical voice with payers, health systems, partners, regulators, and investors.
This is a hands-on, build-and-scale role for a physician who thinks like a technologist. The ideal candidate has already built or scaled the clinical function of a digital health company, knows how to translate clinical insight into product decisions, and understands how evidence and outcomes drive enterprise and payer adoption.
What You'll Do
Clinical Strategy & Leadership
• Define and execute XRHealth's clinical strategy across physical rehabilitation, chronic pain, and behavioral health, aligned with company growth and commercial priorities.
• Lead, recruit, and develop the clinical organization, including clinical leadership, licensed providers, and clinical operations staff, and build a scalable model for clinical supervision and credentialing.
• Serve as a member of the executive team, shaping company strategy, product roadmap, and investment decisions from a clinical perspective.
Product, Technology & Clinical AI
• Partner with the CTO and product teams to translate clinical evidence and behavioral science into product requirements, therapeutic content, and care pathways for our VR/AR platform.
• Establish and own the clinical AI governance framework, ensuring that AI-driven features are clinically sound, safe, explainable, and compliant with privacy and regulatory requirements.
• Provide clinical sign-off on new product releases, protocols, and therapeutic programs.
Evidence, Outcomes & Research
• Set the research and evidence agenda, including clinical studies, real-world evidence, peer-reviewed publications, and academic and industry partnerships.
• Own the outcomes measurement framework across all clinical programs, defining clinical endpoints, engagement metrics, and patient-reported outcomes.
• Develop health economic and ROI methodologies that meet the evidence requirements of payers, employers, and health system partners.
Quality, Safety & Regulatory
• Own clinical quality, patient safety, and medical governance, including clinical policies, incident review, peer review, and continuous quality improvement.
• Oversee clinical compliance with applicable federal and state requirements, including FDA, HIPAA, CMS, telehealth, and multi-state licensure and scope-of-practice rules, in partnership with Legal and Compliance.
• Maintain a clinical quality infrastructure that supports rapid product iteration without interrupting commercialization.
External & Commercial Leadership
• Act as the external clinical voice of XRHealth with payers, health plans, employers, health systems, regulators, media, and investors.
• Support business development and payer contracting by presenting clinical value, outcomes data, and evidence in sales and partnership discussions.
• Represent XRHealth at industry conferences and in scientific and digital health forums.
Corporate Development
• Lead clinical due diligence on potential acquisitions and partnerships, and direct the clinical integration of acquired programs, teams, and provider networks.
Required Qualifications
• MD, board-certified in Psychiatry or Neurology, with an active, unrestricted medical license.
• Significant physician executive experience (typically 10+ years post-residency, including 5+ years in senior clinical leadership), ideally as CMO, Medical Director, or equivalent.
• Demonstrated track record in digital health, health technology, or virtual care, including building or scaling a clinical function within a growth-stage technology company.
• Strong technology mindset, with hands-on experience partnering with product and engineering teams and a working understanding of AI/ML applications in healthcare.
• Experience designing outcomes measurement and generating clinical and economic evidence that supports payer and enterprise adoption.
• Working knowledge of the healthcare regulatory landscape relevant to digital health, including FDA, HIPAA, CMS, and multi-state telehealth requirements.
• Exceptional communication skills and executive presence, with the credibility to represent the company to payers, investors, partners, and the clinical community.

• Experience in behavioral health, chronic pain, or musculoskeletal care delivered through technology-enabled models.
• Experience leading clinical due diligence and integration in mergers and acquisitions.
• Experience building and managing multi-state clinical provider networks.
• Track record of peer-reviewed publications and speaking at major healthcare and digital health conferences.
• Experience implementing clinical AI governance in a commercial healthcare setting.
