How you will make an impact
The Director, Alliance Management enhances the value and minimizes the risk of multiple partner alliances by providing leadership, proactive management of a portfolio of programs/products and build positive relationships with key partners and other alliance collaborators. They support the strategies and business plans and further establish Halozyme as a preferred strategic partner of choice and are accountable for overall alliance, program performance, and integrates efforts across product development, quality, regulatory affairs, manufacturing, project management and supply chain to meet critical achievements to advance programs and the Hypercon platform.
In this role, you’ll have the opportunity to:
- Leads specific alliance-related activities to enhance value and minimize risks related to assigned Hypercon partnership(s)
- Accountable for delivering key achievements that lead to revenue recognition and growing existing alliances by facilitating new engagement meetings with existing partners which lead to addtional development programs for Hypercon
- Leads and collaborates with external alliance managers and internal key partners to establish a strong working relationship, handle key issues, ensure effective governance, and further establish Halozyme as a preferred strategic partner of choice
- Supports and plays a pivotal role in the achievement of financial plan by meeting revenue targets for assigned partner(s). Plans include program strategies, renegotiations that enhance the portfolio value and growing the existing partnership.
- Proactively supervise contractual obligations and outcomes for both Halozyme and its alliance partners to ensure responsibilities are met. Develop understanding of the relevant contractual agreement(s) in detail, including strategic intent, obligations, including potential changes in partnership agreements and renegotiations. Support process for revising contractual agreements as necessary
- Understands the value drivers of our alliance partners and proactively identify issues and prepare risk mitigation action plans and ensure healthy communication and relationship with our partners, our executive team and internal stakeholders
- Develops and maintains key relationships and sphere of influence, both internally and externally to achieve alliance partnership objectives
- Drives alliance meetings as required both internally and joint partner meetings, including working with project management to develop the agendas, internal briefings, minutes and distribution of relevant materials
- Ensures the alliance partnership conforms to Halozyme’s policies and procedures and ensures partners are fully aware and enforce Halozyme’s ethics and compliance policies
- Supports the Hypercon Chief Operating Officer in the design and implementation of strategies to build organizational alliance management capability to support external partnership and enables Halozyme to achieve its growth plan and maintain a reputation as a preferred alliance partner
- Works collaboratively with other department managers to achieve company goals
- Works closely with Finance to integrate alliance partnership finances
- Other duties as assigned
To succeed in this role, you’ll need:
- Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in business, life science or related field of study with at least 10 years of experience in the biopharmaceutical industry (an equivalent combination of experience and education may be considered)
- 5-8 years of relevant experience in alliance management or similar role working directly with alliance partners and as part of an alliance team required
- Strong business acumen with experience in driving new business within alliances
- Experience in managing or collaborating with CDMO preferred
- Strong knowledge and understanding of global product development and commercialization in the pharmaceutical industry
- Significant experience managing cross-functional teams and experience facilitating multi-disciplinary teams
- Experience with an agile, fast paced, matrixed organization
- Comfort in high-performance, high-demand, high-expectations environment
- Strong ability to influence and negotiate, effectively adjusting style based on the specific scenario/relationship to achieve desired outcome
- Polished, written and verbal communication skills
- Hardworking and purposeful with curiosity and ability to lead
- Problem solver with strong analytical and decision-making ability, able to synthesize sophisticated and diverse inputs related to a problem, recommend solutions/preferred options. Ability to contribute to and influence Hypercon platform strategy
- Certificate of Achievement in Alliance Management (CAAM) or Certified Strategic Alliance Professional (CSAP) certification a plus
- MS or PhD degree preferred

Travel: Travel may be required up to 25% of your time.
The most likely base pay range for this position is $180,000-252,000 per year. Several factors, such as experience, tenure, skills, and particular business needs, will determine an individual’s exact level of compensation. Base salary is only one element of employee compensation at Halozyme. Total compensation could include bonuses, sales incentives, and equity awards.
