General Description

The Deputy Director of Business Development & Technology Enablement supports business development operations through the integration of advanced technologies and data-driven tools. This position is responsible for driving innovation within the BD function—particularly through AI applications and Salesforce optimization—while also performing core BD responsibilities including pipeline management, opportunity tracking, capture coordination, and performance reporting. The role operates at the intersection of business strategy, digital enablement, and operational execution.

How You Will Fulfill Your Mission

  • Partner with the Director of BD to align priorities, monitor pipeline health, and execute BD strategies.
  • Lead the implementation of AI tools to support key BD functions, including market research, competitor analysis, and capture intelligence.
  • Manage and enhance Salesforce for opportunity tracking, pipeline forecasting, and cross-team collaboration.
  • Oversee the BD pipeline from Pre-Identify through Award stages, ensuring accuracy, visibility, and active engagement.
  • Design dashboards and visual reports to provide insight into BD performance and inform leadership decisions.
  • Coordinate handoffs between Capture Managers and Proposal Teams to ensure seamless workflow.
  • Continuously evaluate new technologies and BD best practices to improve operational efficiency.
  • Contribute to account planning efforts, customer engagement strategies, and win theme development.
  • Develop standardized BD processes, templates, and tools to improve cycle time and consistency.
  • Mentor BD team members on new technologies and systems, driving adoption and performance gains.
  • Support internal reporting of BD performance, trends, and key performance indicators.

Specific Knowledge/Certification Requirements

  • Minimum 8 years’ experience in business development, capture, or related roles within the government contracting space.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience with government contracting to include contracts, pricing, and financial analysis
  • Strong experience with Salesforce (configuration and reporting) and exposure to AI or automation tools in a BD environment.
  • Exceptional analytical, project management, and communication skills.
  • Ability to operate with high autonomy and work cross-functionally.
  • Familiarity with government proposal lifecycles and opportunity tracking systems.
