Advanced Practice Provider-Urgent Care at Sano Specialty Care – Raymore, Missouri

The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) is primarily responsible for supporting urgent care operations by assessing and treating patients, working collaboratively with physicians and clinical staff to ensure efficient, high-quality patient care. The APP must effectively communicate with patients while showing compassion for their individual situations. The APP must be organized and able to prioritize tasks in a demanding work environment. Locations may vary pending on business needs.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY

• The APP will assist in outpatient patient care and provide a seamless transition through continuum of care.
• Collaborate with supervising physician on patient care.
• Streamline communications with referring physicians both internal and external to Sano.
• Conduct comprehensive appraisals of patients' health status by taking health histories and performing physical examinations in clinical area.
• Thoroughly documenting visits.
• Creating patient care plans and contributing to existing ones.
• Order laboratory and tests.
• Interpret laboratory and test results.
• Prescribing medicine and other treatments.
• Demonstrate clinical expertise and expanded knowledge through patient care activities which may include diagnosis and management of a wide range of health problems.
• Confer with collaborating physician and other health professionals in area of clinical expertise.
• Provide formal education to both internal and external groups pertinent to area of specialty.
• Participate in quality improvement and/or research initiatives for specific patient population as appropriate.
• Provides comprehensive teaching strategies for patients and their families.
• Complete appropriate CME, maintain MO and KS licenses and DEA numbers.
• Attends mandatory full staff and clinical meetings and acknowledges receipt of and reviews minutes if absent.
• Participates in the shared on-call rotation for advanced practice providers, providing patient care coverage after hours, on weekends, and during holidays as assigned.

COMPETENCIES/SKILLS

• Understanding of Internal Classification of Diseases (ICD) and Common Procedural Terminology (CPT) coding
• Knowledge of medical terminology
• General computer skills, especially with Microsoft Office Applications (i.e. – Word, PowerPoint, and Excel)
• Data Entry
• Excellent communication skills
• Strong Customer Service Skills
• EMR experience (eClinical Works preferred)
• Computer software/hardware troubleshooting

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS

• State Licensed Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner (or eligible for License in MO and KS)
• 1-2 Years of clinic experience (preferred)
