Job Description
Job Summary
Works in collaboration with the Quality Management Team to ensure compliance with regulatory agencies and ensures patient safety/risk management opportunities are properly addressed. Ensures that the Hospital incorporates and utilizes methods to improve the safe administration of care to all clinical processes. Responsible for the development of annual site-specific Patient Safety Plan. Coordinates patient safety improvement programs that reduce the risk of injury and promote reporting of incidents. Develops and delivers education programs based on incident reporting data. Administers the Safety-First Program for all University Medical Center of El Paso sites including the performance of investigations and Root Cause Analysis. Promotes a culture to ensure safety is perceived as a major factor, and proactively develops strategies to maximize patient safety through the High Reliability Organization (HRO) program.

5. Knowledge of hospital systems and organizational relationships.
6. Skilled in the use of computer systems and related software applications.
7. Possesses critical thinking and problem solving skills.
Work Experience
Five years of supervisory/management experience is required. Strong clinical experience in patient safety, risk management or performance improvement is required.
License/Registration/Certification
1. Current and license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Texas is required.
2. Obtainment of one of the following is required within two years of being in the position: Nurse Executive-Board Certified (NE-BC), Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ), Certified Professional in Healthcare Risk Manager (CPHRM), or Certified Professional of Patient Safety (CPPS).
Education and Training
Bachelor degree in Nursing is required. Master degree is preferred.
