- Review architectural, mechanical, and electrical drawings to define project scope and perform detailed material take-offs, including controllers, sensors, panels, and network components.
- Prepare labour and installation estimates covering engineering, programming, commissioning, and related project activities.
- Analyze HVAC systems and sequences of operation to design preliminary controls architecture and system configurations.
- Identify integration requirements with third-party systems such as chillers, boilers, VFDs, and metering devices.
- Conduct site visits and field assessments to validate scope, installation conditions, and potential project risks.
- Collaborate with sales, engineering, procurement, and project management teams to support bid development and value engineering.
- Support RFI responses, bid reviews, and post-bid technical analysis to improve competitiveness and execution quality.
- Ensure estimates reflect both technical accuracy and financial feasibility, including consideration of electrical and installation constraints.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent hands-on experience in building systems design and construction.
- 5+ years of experience in BAS, HVAC controls, or design-build construction with a strong focus on building systems.
- Solid understanding of HVAC systems, controls principles, and building automation technologies.
- Proven experience in cost estimation, technical proposals, or controls engineering within construction or building services.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Ability to assess project financials, including basic cost-benefit analysis and engineering trade-offs.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and BAS estimation software.
