Job Description

Specialist, Provisioning

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Specialist, Provisioning based in Canada.

This role sits at the core of a complex telecommunications environment, ensuring seamless activation and provisioning of customer premises equipment and network services across high-scale infrastructure. You will contribute to the reliability and performance of carrier-grade systems supporting internet, voice, and data services used by hundreds of thousands of customers. Acting as both a technical expert and operational guardian, you will monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize provisioning platforms in real time. The position blends deep systems engineering with hands-on network operations in a fast-paced, highly collaborative environment. You will work across multiple technical domains, including DOCSIS, IP networking, and service activation systems. This is a critical role for someone who thrives on solving complex infrastructure challenges and ensuring uninterrupted service delivery.

Accountabilities:
  • Manage, configure, and maintain provisioning and CPE activation platforms, ensuring stable and scalable service delivery across production environments, including related operating systems and supporting applications.
  • Monitor end-to-end provisioning systems (including Incognito, Cisco CNR/PNR, RDU DOCSIS environments, and IP assignment systems) to ensure service integrity and rapid issue detection.
  • Provide advanced troubleshooting and on-call support for critical provisioning incidents outside of standard business hours, ensuring minimal service disruption.
  • Support design, deployment, and lifecycle management of provisioning systems, including upgrades, enhancements, and integration of new services or technologies.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (TechOps, network engineering, vendors, and third parties) to resolve complex service issues and validate new deployments.
  • Participate in project planning activities, including technical design, cost estimation, and implementation timelines for infrastructure changes.
  • Maintain accurate system documentation, configuration records, and operational procedures to support continuity and compliance.
Requirements

This role requires strong experience in telecom or cable network environments, with deep technical expertise in provisioning systems, IP services, and broadband infrastructure. The ideal candidate is highly analytical, operationally resilient, and comfortable working in mission-critical environments with rotational on-call expectations.

  • 5+ years of experience in cable/MSO, telecommunications, or similar network infrastructure environments.
  • Strong understanding of DOCSIS, DHCP, DNS, TFTP, SNMP, and IP networking (IPv4/IPv6).
  • Hands-on experience with provisioning platforms (e.g., Incognito, Cisco CNR/PNR, RDU systems) and CPE activation workflows.
  • Solid knowledge of broadband infrastructure, including CMTS, OLT, ONT/ONU, and RF networks.
  • Proficiency with Linux systems and troubleshooting tools (tcpdump, traceroute, netstat, Wireshark, etc.).
  • Experience with scripting or automation tools (Bash, Python, Perl) and basic system-level programming.
  • Familiarity with databases and middleware technologies (MySQL, MariaDB, MongoDB, Apache, NGINX, Tomcat).
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced Agile environment.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate across technical and operational teams.
Benefits
  • Competitive compensation aligned with industry standards in telecommunications
  • Remote-first or hybrid work flexibility depending on location requirements
  • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance coverage
  • Retirement savings plans and financial wellness programs
  • Paid vacation, personal days, and statutory leave entitlements
  • Learning and development opportunities to support technical growth and certifications
  • Exposure to large-scale carrier-grade infrastructure and advanced telecom technologies
  • Collaborative and inclusive work environment focused on innovation and continuous improvement.
