This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior GIS Developer/Analyst based in Canada.
In this role, you will contribute to high-impact environmental and infrastructure projects by transforming spatial data into actionable insights that support science-driven decision-making. You will work at the intersection of GIS analysis, data engineering, and applied environmental consulting, helping deliver mapping and geospatial solutions that inform regulatory, operational, and sustainability outcomes. The position offers exposure to multidisciplinary teams including scientists, engineers, and field specialists, as well as collaboration with clients and regulatory stakeholders. You will play a key role in developing, maintaining, and improving geospatial systems, databases, and workflows that support complex project delivery. This is a hands-on technical role where your expertise in GIS development and spatial analysis will directly influence project quality and efficiency. You will also have opportunities to contribute to innovation initiatives, including automation, AI-enabled geospatial workflows, and process optimization. - Develop, edit, and maintain spatial datasets, mapping products, and geospatial outputs supporting environmental and infrastructure projects.
- Perform geospatial analysis to support project teams in interpreting spatial relationships and producing actionable insights.
- Design, manage, and maintain relational geospatial databases and ensure data integrity across project workflows.
- Support the development and continuous improvement of mapping standards, GIS workflows, and internal best practices.
- Contribute to GIS programming and automation using tools such as Python, Arcade, SQL, and other relevant languages.
- Support the use and integration of ESRI platforms including ArcGIS Desktop, ArcGIS Pro, and related enterprise tools.
- Assist with field data collection activities when required, supporting data quality and operational execution.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, clients, and regulatory stakeholders to deliver accurate and compliant geospatial outputs.
- Participate in project coordination activities, contributing to planning, execution, and delivery timelines.
- Support innovation initiatives including AI-assisted geospatial analysis and workflow optimization.
- Undergraduate degree or technical diploma in GIS, geography, geomatics, environmental science, computer science, or a related field.
- 8+ years of experience in GIS analysis, development, or a similar geospatial role.
- Strong understanding of coordinate systems, projections, and spatial data transformations.
- Advanced proficiency with ESRI ArcGIS Desktop and ArcGIS Pro.
- Experience with ESRI Field Maps and Survey123 for field data collection workflows.
- Strong programming skills in GIS-related languages such as Python, SQL, JavaScript, R, or C#.
- Experience working with geospatial databases and tools such as ESRI Enterprise Geodatabases is an asset.
- Familiarity with ArcGIS Enterprise, Portal, or ArcGIS Online is considered an advantage.
- Experience with FME, ModelBuilder, or similar workflow automation tools is a plus.
- Exposure to infrastructure or environmental consulting projects is highly valued.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret technical documents, drawings, and regulatory requirements.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate across technical and non-technical teams.
- Experience in mentorship, project coordination, or interest in AI-enabled GIS tools is an asset.
- Competitive annual salary: $110,000 – $140,000 CAD, depending on experience and location
