Job Description

Simon Eye and Center for Advanced Eye Care are partner practices with a combined 27 Optometrists, 8 Ophthalmologists, and over 150 staff serving patients across the state of Delaware, Pennsylvania and Maryland. We are aligned to ensure our communities can access patient-centered, medically oriented full service eyecare delivered in convenient locations with friendly, knowledgeable doctors and staff.

As a Medical Billing Specialist, you will be responsible for the insurance billing and collections functions for multiple Simon Eye locations. Your success in this position will be driven by your ability to complete billing and/or accounts receivable follow-up with payers while achieving the expected quality and productivity requirements.

What You'll Do:
  • Review, prepare, and transmit claims using electronic and paper claim processing
  • Daily submission of claims
  • Follow up on unpaid claims meeting the standard billing cycle time frame
  • Post insurance payments and review for accuracy
  • Contact insurance companies in regards to discrepancies
  • Investigate and appeal denied claims
  • Identify and resolve billing issues
  • Continual account review monitoring insurance trends and report findings to manager
  • Ability to work autonomously, self starter
  • Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Have strong organizational skills and manage time well
  • Must maintain HIPAA confidentiality of patients
  • Additional tasks as requested
What You'll Need:
  • Two plus years of medical / healthcare billing experience required.
  • Knowledge of Medical and Optometric insurance claim forms including ICD10 and CPT codes.
  • Experience reading and understanding explanation of benefits and the contractual adjustments.
  • Strong initiative to solve problems while paying close attention to detail.
  • Ability to work in office
