Job Summary:
The Maintenance Planner is responsible for developing and maintaining the preventive maintenance schedule, coordinating maintenance work orders, and managing spare parts inventory to ensure equipment reliability and minimal downtime. This role bridges planning and parts management to support effective maintenance execution in a beverage manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and experienced in both maintenance planning and inventory control.
Key Responsibilities:
Maintenance Planning:
- Develop, schedule, and update preventive maintenance (PM) plans for production and facility equipment
- Prioritize and schedule corrective, predictive, and preventive work orders with maintenance team and operations
- Ensure all maintenance activities are properly documented in the CMMS
- Maintain accurate equipment histories and asset records
- Coordinate contractor scheduling and documentation for specialized maintenance activities
- Assist in planning maintenance shutdowns and large-scale overhauls
Parts Coordination:
- Maintain accurate inventory of spare parts, consumables, and critical spares in the CMMS or inventory system
- Issue and track parts for work orders, ensuring timely availability to technicians
- Work with vendors to source, order, and receive parts in a timely manner
- Perform regular cycle counts and physical inventory audits
- Manage storage conditions to ensure part quality and readiness
- Control parts purchasing within approved budgets and maintain necessary documentation
Cross-Functional Support:
- Work closely with Maintenance Technicians, Production, and Engineering to plan and prioritize maintenance needs
- Support troubleshooting efforts by ensuring parts availability and accurate documentation
- Assist in training new maintenance staff on CMMS use and work order processes
- Ensure all activities comply with GMPs, OSHA, and company safety requirements
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):
- PM schedule adherence rate
- Work order closure rate and backlog reduction
- Parts inventory accuracy (cycle count compliance)
- Maintenance downtime related to parts availability
- Vendor on-time delivery rate
- Cost control vs. budget for maintenance parts
Education & Experience:
- High school diploma or GED required; associate degree or technical certification preferred
- 2–5 years of experience in maintenance planning, inventory management, or maintenance coordination in manufacturing
- Experience in a food/beverage manufacturing environment highly desirable
Skills & Competencies:
- Strong organizational and scheduling abilities
- Knowledge of mechanical/electrical parts and equipment terminology
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and documentation
