About The Role
As the Warehouse Maintenance Lead: Plumbing & Vendor Coordination on our Facilities team, you will take hands-on ownership of plumbing upkeep and day-to-day facility care across our Brooklyn warehouse. This is an hourly, seasonal temp-to-perm role designed for someone who is comfortable both doing the work and leading the process. You’ll be the go-to person for keeping our water systems, fixtures, and drains in working order, as well as the trusted on-site point of contact for outside vendors, inspectors, and repair technicians. From small, quick fixes to coordinating larger projects, you’ll help ensure our warehouse stays safe, compliant, and fully operational for our teams and customers.
The position reports to our Facilities Supervisor. The pay is $24-$25/hour based on experience.
What You'll Do
- Serve as the on-site lead for plumbing maintenance and repairs across the Brooklyn warehouse, including sinks, toilets, drains, and related fixtures.
- Inspect, troubleshoot, and perform basic to intermediate plumbing work (e.g., clearing clogs, replacing fixtures, addressing minor leaks) and escalate complex issues to licensed vendors as needed.
- Monitor the performance of water systems, drainage, and related infrastructure to identify potential issues early and prevent downtime.
- Coordinate, schedule, and oversee external vendors for plumbing, HVAC, general maintenance, and other facility-related services.
- Act as the primary point of contact for vendors and service providers while they are on-site, ensuring work is completed safely, on time, and to specification.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, service logs, work orders, and vendor visits using company systems or tools.
- Assist with routine facility inspections, documenting and reporting any structural, safety, or compliance-related concerns.
- Support general warehouse maintenance needs, including light carpentry, basic repairs, minor painting, patching, and other upkeep tasks as needed.
- Ensure that all plumbing and maintenance work is performed in compliance with safety standards, company policies, and applicable regulations.
- Collaborate with warehouse leadership to prioritize maintenance requests and minimize disruption to day-to-day operations.
- Monitor and manage basic inventory of supplies, tools, and replacement parts, and request reorders as necessary.
- Respond promptly to urgent maintenance issues and support after-hours or weekend needs on a rotating or as-needed basis during the seasonal period.
- Identify opportunities to improve maintenance processes, vendor performance, and facility condition, and share recommendations with the Facilities team.
- Support onboarding and training of additional maintenance staff or temporary workers as the team grows or seasonal volume increases.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in facility maintenance, building operations, or a similar hands-on role in a warehouse, industrial, or commercial environment.
- Working knowledge of basic plumbing systems, fixtures, and common repair techniques (e.g., clearing drains, replacing valves, repairing leaks).
- Demonstrated experience coordinating and overseeing external vendors, contractors, or service technicians.
- Ability to read and follow work orders, maintenance logs, and basic technical instructions related to plumbing and facility systems.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and manage time effectively in a fast-paced setting.
- Comfort working independently with minimal supervision and taking ownership of problems from start to resolution.
- Good communication skills, including the ability to clearly describe issues, document work performed, and interact professionally with vendors and internal teams.
- Physical ability to perform maintenance tasks, including lifting up to 50 lbs, standing and walking for extended periods, climbing ladders, and working in tight or elevated spaces (with appropriate safety equipment).
- Willingness to work an hourly, seasonal schedule with the potential for temp-to-perm conversion based on performance and business needs.
- Basic proficiency with email, mobile apps, or maintenance software to track work orders and vendor activity.
- Familiarity with standard safety practices in a warehouse or industrial setting, including proper use of PPE and adherence to OSHA or local safety guidelines.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States and the ability to reliably commute to our Brooklyn warehouse location.
