About UsThe Calais School is a state-approved provider of special education serving students in grades K through 12 Plus with multiple learning disabilities. This is a Part-Time position, and the schedule and hours will be determined.
Responsibilities:- Assist in maintaining school buildings and grounds in excellent condition.
- Help promote the safety, health, and comfort of students and employees throughout school buildings and grounds.
- Vendor management and communication.
- Maintain high standards of safety, cleanliness, and efficiency in all maintenance and repair projects.
- Move equipment and materials within and between school buildings as needed.
- Work overtime during emergencies to prevent disruption of school operations.
- Serve as a substitute custodian when necessary.
- Follow and uphold all district policies at all times.
- Stay informed about new information, innovative ideas, and maintenance techniques.
- Serve as the primary contact for emergency-related issues after 3:00 PM.
- Adhere to all district health and safety policies, including the Bloodborne Pathogens Exposure Control Plan.
- Perform other duties as assigned by Administrative Staff.
QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or equivalent experience required
- Boiler licenses preferred
- Previous maintenance experience, preferably in a school setting
COMPETENCIES -- KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and EXPERIENCE
- Ability to perform a variety of basic maintenance tasks using hand and power tools.
- Ability to read and follow repair and instruction manuals.
- Strong communication and customer service skills
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to walk up and down stairs during emergency drills or situations.
