Position Information
The Financial and Administrative Officer for the Departments of Creative Writing, Dance, Music, Theatre. Film and Digital Production, Palm Desert Low-Residency MFA, the University Theater, and the Performing Arts Administration (PAA) reports to the Divisional FAO for CHASS with a dotted line reporting to the four Department Chairs/Program Director This position is responsible for providing management, coordination and oversight of the daily operations of the four independently operated Academic units including managing access control to all spaces, payroll, reconciliation, reporting, budget approvals for the Palm Desert Low-Residency MFA, payroll review, purchasing approvals for the University Theater, and one Administrative support unit, including financial, human resources, academic support, contracts and grants, facilities management and other operational matters. The Departments of Creative Writing, Dance, Music and Theatre, Film and Digital Production academic personnel include 47 tenure track faculty; 55 other academic appointments (including Visiting Professors, , Professors of Teaching, Continuing Lecturers, Unit 18 Lecturers, V & I Instructors, and Teaching Assistants; and 10 professional production staff. The Performing Arts Administration has 14 staff employees. Facilities/Equipment/Instrument oversight includes: 52,000 sq. ft. of space in various locations, specialized studio space and special collections (instructions, costumes, and lab equipment) totaling more than $3.5 million. The departments offer undergraduate and graduate degree programs and public concert/performance events annually. The total operating budgets for the 5 departments and Theatre Facilities Unit is over 10 million. This position manages business, accountability, stewardship, publicity and support functions in the Departments to achieve Department and CHASS goals and objectives in meeting the mission of the University. The FAO has significant responsibility to organize work to achieve broadly stated goals for the departments. Identifies objectives, develops strategies and policies, and functions with a high degree of autonomy.The full salary range for the Financial and Administrative Officer is $84,100 - $154,700 annually. We base salary offers on a variety of considerations, such as education, licensure and certifications, experience, and other business and organizational needs. Applicants must have current work authorization when accepting a UCR staff position. Currently, we are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa for staff.As a University employee, you will be required to comply with all applicable University policies and/or collective bargaining agreements, as may be amended from time to time. Federal, state, or local government directives may impose additional requirements.
