The Graphic and Multimedia Designer translates concepts and themes into compelling and brand-appropriate visual design of print materials and digital media. Highly creative and original, the Graphic and Multimedia Designer is a key member of the Marketing and Communications team who brings energy and ideas to each new endeavor. With a track record of producing high-quality, innovative materials and a wealth of knowledge about emerging design practices and production processes, the Graphic and Multimedia Designer is able to propose solutions that delight clients and elevate the Earlham brand.

This position reports to the Senior Creative Director/Project Manager, and is part of a highly collaborative, multifunctional marketing and communications team that includes writing and editing, design, photo, video, web development and marketing strategy.

• Meeting clients or account managers to discuss the project objectives and requirements of the job
• Estimating the time required to complete the work
• Thinking creatively to produce new ideas and concepts and developing compelling design
• Using innovation to redefine a design brief within the constraints of cost and time
• Presenting finalized ideas and concepts to clients;
• Working with a range of media and keeping up to date with emerging technologies
• Develop creative concepts and visual designs for print and digital materials such as brochures, postcards, advertisements, alumni magazine, presentations, social media graphics, promotional materials, email marketing, and video projects.
• Produce video and multimedia content, including planning, basic camera/audio operation, editing, captioning and formatting content for web, social media and other digital channels.
• Proofreading to produce accurate and high-quality work
• Coordinate with vendors and prepare files for print production and digital distribution
• Working as part of a team with printers, copywriters, photographers, illustrators, other designers, web developers and marketing specialists

• Bachelor’s Degree and 3-5 years experience required
• Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud, particularly InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop. Ideally experience in Adobe Premiere for video editing
• Passion and enthusiasm for design, with a creative flair
• A flexible approach when working in a team
• Communication skills: Able to meet with clients or the Senior Creative Director and Project Manager to determine the scope of a project and interpret and negotiate briefs with clients
• Good presentation skills and the confidence to explain and sell ideas to clients and colleagues
• Time management skills and the ability to cope with several projects at a time
• Accuracy and attention to detail when finalizing designs
• Being open to feedback and willing to make changes to designs
• Review designs for errors before printing or publishing them
• Develop and maintain brand standards, templates, and visual assets for the campus community
