This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for an Accounting Manager – Month-End Close & Operations – AI/LLM Expertise based in Canada.
This role sits at the core of a multi-brand finance organization, where you will own the full month-end close cycle and ensure accurate, audit-ready financial reporting across a fast-scaling portfolio. You will be responsible for driving speed, accuracy, and discipline in close operations while also modernizing how accounting work is executed through automation and AI-driven tools. The position combines traditional technical accounting ownership with a highly forward-looking mandate to redesign manual processes using LLMs, Python, and workflow automation. You will partner closely with cross-functional teams across finance, operations, and merchandising to ensure clean financial data and efficient processes. This is a high-ownership role in a lean environment where decisions move quickly and impact is highly visible. You will play a key role in building a modern, AI-enabled finance function designed to scale across multiple brands.
- Own and drive the full month-end close process end-to-end, ensuring timely, accurate, and audit-ready financial results within tight reporting deadlines.
- Prepare and post recurring journal entries including accruals, amortizations, prepaids, intercompany transactions, payroll entries, and revenue-related adjustments.
- Manage balance sheet reconciliations across multiple entities, including bank accounts, payment platforms, and intercompany balances.
- Oversee Accounts Payable operations including invoice processing, payment runs, aging management, vendor reconciliations, and dispute resolution.
- Act as the primary financial point of contact for vendors, supporting statement reconciliation, credit disputes, and financial documentation requests.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to coordinate close inputs such as inventory, revenue adjustments, and intercompany reporting.
- Ensure strong controls, documentation, and audit readiness through structured close checklists and reconciliation frameworks.
- Identify, design, and implement AI-driven automation to eliminate manual accounting tasks and improve close speed and accuracy.
- Build and deploy workflows using LLMs, Python, SQL, and automation tools to streamline reconciliations, AP processes, and reporting.
- Maintain data integrity across the general ledger and support FP&A, audit, and tax reporting requirements.
- Continuously identify process gaps, root causes of recurring issues, and opportunities for scalable improvements across finance operations.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 5+ years of hands-on accounting experience with full ownership of month-end close processes.
- Strong technical accounting knowledge including accruals, prepaids, intercompany accounting, and balance sheet reconciliations under GAAP.
- Proven experience managing Accounts Payable processes and direct vendor communication and dispute resolution.
- Strong proficiency in Excel and SQL for data extraction, reconciliation, and financial analysis.
- Hands-on experience with payroll journal entries and payroll systems (e.g., Paylocity or similar).
- Demonstrated experience using AI/LLM tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Claude) to automate or enhance finance workflows.
- Familiarity with Python or willingness to use scripting tools for automation and process improvement.
- Experience working in multi-entity or multi-brand environments is strongly preferred.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to operate under tight monthly close deadlines.
- Ability to design, explain, and own automation or process improvements from concept to implementation.
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across finance and operational teams.
- Competitive compensation package in the $100,000–$120,000 USD equivalent range.
