This role sits at the center of a dynamic, global finance environment supporting complex operations within the life sciences industry. You will oversee critical accounting activities including tax compliance, financial reporting, and month-end close processes while ensuring accuracy, compliance, and operational excellence across Canadian and U.S. GAAP standards. The position plays a key role in strengthening internal controls, supporting audits, and maintaining the integrity of financial systems and reporting structures. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional and international teams, contributing to both strategic initiatives and day-to-day accounting operations. This is a high-impact role for a detail-oriented finance professional who thrives in a regulated, fast-paced, and collaborative environment. You will also contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and help integrate evolving accounting standards into business processes.
In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance with accounting standards, and effective tax and audit support across multiple jurisdictions.
- Prepare and review SR&ED tax incentive claims in collaboration with operational teams, ensuring accuracy and compliance with applicable regulations.
- Lead income, indirect, and transaction tax audits while supporting broader tax compliance and reporting activities.
- Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
- Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules while maintaining general ledger integrity.
- Manage indirect tax filings (GST/QST), tax account reconciliations, and related compliance activities.
- Support SOX internal controls compliance, maintaining process documentation and identifying control gaps or discrepancies.
- Collaborate with global accounting teams and assist in implementing new accounting standards, systems enhancements, and process improvements.
- Assist with year-end audit deliverables and ensure statutory and regulatory requirements are met.
This role requires strong technical accounting expertise, regulatory awareness, and the ability to operate in a complex, multi-system environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or equivalent education and experience.
- Strong knowledge of US GAAP and Canadian GAAP, with experience applying accounting standards in a corporate environment.
- Experience working with ERP systems, ideally Oracle Fusion Financials or similar platforms.
- Background in Canadian and Quebec taxation, including GST/QST filings, is highly valued.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Excellent attention to detail, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills in a high-volume environment.
- Strong communication skills in both English and French (written and spoken).
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently, and collaborate effectively across teams.
