About This Position

The Manager, Organizational Development/Training is responsible for the creation, development, coordination, and delivery of professional development and training programs that support employee growth and institutional effectiveness at Lake-Sumter State College. This position is a part of the Human Resources Department and will work in tandem with campus stakeholders to design and implement learning initiatives that strengthen employee performance, leadership capacity, and organizational culture.

The Manager leads the development and facilitation of training programs for employees at all levels of the College—from administrative professionals to senior leaders—including leadership development programs, and targeted professional development opportunities. Using best practices in adult learning and organizational development, the Manager evaluates training effectiveness and continuously improves programs to align with the College’s strategic goals and workforce needs.


This position plays a key role in fostering a culture of continuous learning, collaboration, and engagement across the institution.


Responsible for demonstrating LSSC’s core values of Caring, Communicating, Collaborating, and Celebrating when interacting with students, employees, visitors, and community members.
  • Design, develop, and implement employee training and professional development programs that support the College’s strategic priorities and workforce development needs.
  • Facilitate engaging learning experiences for employees at all levels of the organization—from administrative professionals to senior leaders—using effective adult learning methodologies.
  • Design, develop, and deliver leadership and professional development programs using multiple training formats—including workshops, cohort-based learning, seminars, and facilitated discussions. This includes planning and implementing leadership cohort models and other multi-layered development approaches that engage employees across roles, titles, and career stages while aligning with the College’s leadership competencies and institutional goals.
  • Develop and coordinate onboarding and orientation learning experiences, including the New Horizons orientation program, to support successful employee integration and engagement.
  • Assess organizational training needs through collaboration with College leadership, departments, and Human Resources to identify opportunities for employee growth and performance improvement.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of training programs through participant feedback, learning assessments, and program metrics, and implement continuous improvements to maximize impact.
  • Develop and maintain training resources, materials, guides, and digital learning content to support consistent and accessible professional development opportunities.
  • Maintain accurate records of employee participation in training and professional development activities and assist in tracking program outcomes and institutional learning metrics.
  • Partner with internal subject matter experts and external facilitators to expand learning opportunities and enhance the quality of professional development offerings.
  • Promote a culture of continuous learning, collaboration, and professional growth across the College community.
  • Participate in departmental initiatives, institutional committees, and cross-functional projects that support employee development and organizational effectiveness.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned that support the mission and strategic objectives of the Human Resources Department and Lake-Sumter State College.

    • Knowledge of development, design, and professional development programs.
    • Ability to facilitate learning experiences for all levels of the organization.
    • Knowledge of current pre-boarding and onboarding processes.
    • Strong organizational, collaboration, consensus-building, and management skills.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams) and applicant tracking systems (NEOGOV/NEOED).
    • Experience with HRIS systems and databases.
    • Knowledge of higher education and/or other mission-driven organizations.
    • Ability to work effectively in teams and manage multiple priorities across divisions to achieve successful outcomes.
    • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet changing deadlines.
    • Effective oral and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate persuasively.
    • Ability to collaborate successfully with a variety of constituencies.
    • Professionalism, maturity, sound judgment, and a demonstrated commitment to service and teamwork.
    • Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with colleagues, community members, and representatives of state and federal agencies.

    • Ability to travel between college locations and work flexible hours, including evenings as required.

Required:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Business Administration, or/a related field from an accredited college or university.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of delivering professional development training.
Preferred:
  • Master’s Degree.
  • Collegiate work experience
  • SHRM Certification and/or membership.
