Accounting Clerk at Michigan Metal Coatings Company – Port Huron, Michigan

MMC is looking for a dedicated and highly organized Accounts Payable Clerk to perform a variety of tasks while taking pride in their work. Under the direct supervision of the Accounting Manager, you will be responsible for processing invoices, maintaining vendor accounts, and ensuring timely and accurate payments.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Process and verify invoices, ensuring proper documentation and approvals.
• Accurately enter accounts payable transactions into the accounting system.
• Reconcile vendor statements, resolve discrepancies, and follow up on outstanding balances.
• Prepare and process payments in a timely manner.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date vendor records and payment terms.
• Communicate with vendors to address billing inquiries and discrepancies.
• Assist with month-end closing by preparing reports and reconciling accounts payable balances.
• Work closely with the purchasing and receiving departments to match invoices with purchase orders and receipts.
• Ensure compliance with company policies and accounting standards.
• Identify opportunities for process improvement in the accounts payable workflow.
• Maintain organized digital and physical files for auditing and reporting purposes.
• Provide support to the accounting team as needed.
• Answer incoming calls and redirect inquiries to the appropriate department.

Education and Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Proven experience in accounts receivable and purchasing roles is a must.
• Demonstrated proficiency in using accounting software.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.
