Responsibilities
The Police Sergeant supervises, directs, and monitors personnel in their assigned facility or on their assigned shift within Kettering Health Network. The Sergeant will have oversight of criminal and administrative investigations of incidents in their assignment and will ensure their personnel’s reports are thorough, accurate and completed in a timely manner. This individual will oversee employee appraisals, discipline, staffing and scheduling. The Sergeant will collaborate with hospital staff as they identify trends having a negative impact on the campus and assist with the development of action plans to address the identified challenges. The position will report directly to the appropriate Lieutenant or Major.

REQUIREMENTS:
Qualifications, Education, and Certifications:
- High school diploma or GED required. Associates or bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Valid Ohio Driver license.
- Must be an OPOTA Certified Police Officer.
- Ability to acquire and maintain Secretary of State Police Commission (granted by KHN PD).
- Ability to successfully complete annual OPOTA firearms qualification course.
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience as a police officer or related field (required).
- Knowledge of applicable rules, regulations, policies and laws that address public safety related aspects in the health care setting (preferred).
- Ability to obtain CPR certification upon hire.
- Never charged or convicted with a disqualifying offense per Ohio Administrative Code 3701-13-05.
