Direct Support Professional Residential Overnight at The Arc Madison Cortland – Cortland, New York

SUMMARY: The Direct Support Professional assists in providing self-care training, therapeutic treatments, and assistance in daily living to developmentally disabled individuals attending the agency's respite facility.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Must stay awake and not place themselves in a compromising position/place that is conducive to sleep; Continuously assess the status of the physical building and the individuals throughout the duration of the shift.
• Provides individualized care as outlined in the individuals Life Plan, or ISP.
• Supports the residents to ensure their safety and well being.
• Observes, documents and communicates pertinent information such as behaviors, nursing, nutrition, clinical issues, etc., to facilitate assessment and development of treatment goals.

About the ARC’S Residence Program: In the residential program, the most caring people are the trained staff who provide 24-hour supervision, care, and guidance to residents. They assist with personal care needs, cleaning, cooking, medications, and activities.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or GED.
