About This Position

Position Summary:
The Maintenance Lead is responsible for the maintenance, repair, and safety of the outpatient FQHC medical facilities and its associated buildings, equipment, mobile fleet and grounds. This position ensures that the facility remains in full compliance with federal, state, and local regulatory requirements (including HRSA, OSHA, and Joint Commission standards, if applicable) and that all environments are safe, clean, and fully operational to support quality patient care and staff productivity.
Key Responsibilities:
Coordination and leadership
- Coordinate daily maintenance operations, including scheduling, and inspecting maintenance and repair work.
- Lead maintenance tasks and assist in facilitating repairs with vendors; ensure work meets quality and safety standards.
- Serve as a point of contact for facility maintenance issues and emergencies.
- Maintain communication with clinical and administrative leaders to ensure minimal disruption to patient care during maintenance activities.
Facility Maintenance & Repair
- Perform and lead preventive maintenance, inspections, and repairs for building systems including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, lighting, mechanical, and security systems.
- Ensure compliance with environmental, safety, and infection control standards specific to healthcare facilities.
- Lead maintenance of medical support equipment (non-clinical systems), doors, fixtures, flooring, and other structural elements.
- Lead and schedule mobile fleet repairs/pm, grounds, and waste management services as assigned.
Regulatory Compliance & Safety
- Maintain accurate maintenance logs, inspection records, and compliance documentation in accordance with FQHC, HRSA, OSHA, and local codes.
- Participate in emergency preparedness drills, and facility audits.
- Ensure that all work areas comply with infection control protocols and life safety requirements.
Project Management & Budget
- Coordinate vendor services and contractors for repairs, upgrades, or remodeling projects.
- Assist with budgeting for facility maintenance, capital improvements, and equipment purchases.
- Monitor and submit orders for inventory of maintenance supplies and tools.
Qualifications:
Education & Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; trade school or associate degree in building maintenance, HVAC, or related field preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in building maintenance or facilities management, preferably in a healthcare or FQHC environment.
- Prior supervisory or lead experience required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Working knowledge of electrical, mechanical, plumbing, HVAC, and building systems.
- Understanding of healthcare facility regulatory standards (OSHA, ADA, NFPA, Life Safety Code).
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and maintenance manuals.
- Strong coordination, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, respond to emergencies, and manage multiple projects or tasks.
- Basic computer skills (CMMS, Microsoft Office).
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and work in various physical environments.
Work Environment:
- Primarily onsite at outpatient clinic facilities.
- May require occasional evening, weekend, or on-call work to address urgent maintenance issues.
- Exposure to mechanical and electrical systems, cleaning chemicals, and other occupational hazards with appropriate PPE provided.
